The Next Heir

Julia Springforth was someone to be envied at Hogwarts. She was beautiful and had friends who were famous like Rose Weasley, James Potter and Scorpius Malfoy. Despite that, she never felt proud of herself for being a half- veela, thus she kept it a secret. All her life, she asked herself why she was abandoned by her father and then her mother afterwards, but never got any answers. And then, she soon found herself having abnormal abilities… even for a witch.

((The story will start with Julia being in the first year but there will be a timeskip bringing them to the main story - the fourth year.))

4. Who are you going with?

"Then, who are you going with, Rose?" I asked, after we've finally calmed ourselves down from laughing about Hailey dressing up as a Quaffle.

"There's this 5th year Hufflepuff prefect guy who asked me. I said I'll think about it." Rose smiled as I and Hailey made the 'ooooh' sound.

"Well, Julia? You still haven't decided yet?" Rose asked.

"I don't know. I don't feel like going yet." I said, sighing.

"Maybe when the right guy asks, you'll feel like it. Afterall, people said you're the prettiest in the school." Hailey nodded at her own theory. Then, I felt the both of them staring at me for a second.

"What?" I asked.

They just continued staring.

"What? I'm serious, you guys are freaking me out..."

"C'mon, just tell us who you want to go with..."

"No one." I flopped back onto my bed at the question and closed my eyes shut, my mouth grinning.

"Julia...My child..."

I woke up in a graveyard, with no one around. I stood up, my body moving on its own, walking towards a tomb. I felt something slithering beside my feet.

"Master..." the snake hissed to me.

And before I could see the name carved on the stone, I woke up in my bedroom.

"A dream..." I thought to myself.

I swept the sweat off my forehead, my heart beating like thunder in the night.

I quickly pulled out a mirror underneath my pillow, staring at my reflection for a long time.

"You're nasty like your mother. Proud, egoistic, always checking your mirror to see if you are still beautiful or not. Veelas. What so good about them? No wonder your father left you two..."

It was my Aunt's voice - what she said 5 years ago when my mother also left me in search of her husband. I clutched the mirror's tightly and stared at my reflection once again.

I looked exactly like my mother. So beautiful she made every men who walked pass bowed to her feet, listened to her every command. Despite that, she never turned back when they call her name.

It was the same for me. She never turn back when I cried out for her, the day she left me.

"Huh?" My train of thoughts was interrupted when I saw a red spark hovering in front of me.

The red spark dances in circles and then flew slowly towards the door leading down to the common room.

I slipped out of my blanket and crept slowly outside the bedroom. I then walked down the staircase, which leaded me to the common room.

The common room was still lit by the fire in the fireplace, but I saw no one around at all.

"Hello?" I whispered to no one in particular softly.

Suddenly, from all corners of the room, red sparks came floating out, slowly forming letters.

"Go to the ball with me." I read the sentence out loud in a low volume, enough for myself to hear. I wouldn't be wanting to wake someone else up in a situation like this.

"Who are you? Why are you asking me at 2 a.m. in the morning?" I looked around the room, but it was too dark for me to see anything. Suddenly, I felt someone pulling my hair from behind.

"Oh Merlin!" I yelled and punched my fist in the direction of that person.

"Ouch!" He yelled. I turned around to look at the person, but I saw... no one.

"Why did you do that? You hit my nose!" A voice scolded me from thin air.

"Wait... This voice..." I took a step forward and squinted my eyes.

The person chuckled playfully and slowly removed the invisible cloak off his head, revealing himself.

"You didn't have to hit me." he said.

"I didn't bring my wand out, James. And I wish I had one to Petrificus Totalus you..." I kicked his leg and sighed, annoyed because I did get scared for a moment there.

"So? Is that a yes or a no?" James whispered.

"You said to go with you. It wasn't a question." I replied.

James sat down on the handle of the sofa, crossing his arms and thinking hard about something. He then looked up at me and smiled mischieviously.

"Go to the ball with me, Julia?"  he grinned.

"What are you plotting now? And wait... how did you know I was awake in the girls' bedroom in the first place?" I asked, suspecting something shady. James were always up to something when he smiled mischieviously like that.

"I say you're just thinking too much-"

Suddenly, James stopped talking when we heard footsteps down the staircase.

James quickly pulled me in close and covered us with his invisible cloak. From the corner of the room, I could see a shadow walking down the boys' staircase.

It was Scorpius
