The Next Heir

Julia Springforth was someone to be envied at Hogwarts. She was beautiful and had friends who were famous like Rose Weasley, James Potter and Scorpius Malfoy. Despite that, she never felt proud of herself for being a half- veela, thus she kept it a secret. All her life, she asked herself why she was abandoned by her father and then her mother afterwards, but never got any answers. And then, she soon found herself having abnormal abilities… even for a witch.

((The story will start with Julia being in the first year but there will be a timeskip bringing them to the main story - the fourth year.))

18. The Shell Cottage

I flopped down onto the train's seat, my luggage placed next to my legs, inside my hand clutched the ticket to Tinworth, Cornwall.

I looked outside the window to the snow-covered scenery.

"I should've used the Floo Powder." I thought to myself, but decided that I needed some time by myself to cool off my head anyway.

When I had finally arrived, I spent quite a while gaping at the seaside 'vacation house' Rose and James had talked to me about.

There were the Shell Cottage - where Rose's Uncle Bill's family lived  - and a lot of tents being set up around a big fireplace .

I couldn't stop gaping - the seaside campfire scenery filled me with so much awe.

I was not even sure if it was even a 'vacation house'. They were more like 'vacation tents'.

Suddenly, I felt strong wind above my head. Looking up, I saw James, Albus and Hugo on brooms.

"Hey Julia!" Rose called out to me, waving from a room inside the Shell Cottage.

I walked at my own pace towards the Shell Cottage.

Inside the huge Shell Cottage, the smell of delicious food filled the whole house.

"Hello. What is a beauty like you doing here?" A beautiful red hair woman came out from the kitchen with a plate of food on her hand. She set it down on the table and smiled at me welcomingly.

Rose ran down the stairs and called out to the woman.

"Aunt Ginny, Julia. Julia, James' mum, my Aunt Ginerva." Rose gave a speedy introduction for the both of us. A wide grin spread across the woman's face.

She offered her hand confidently for me to shake.

"Nice to meet you. Rose and James talked about you a lot. You are even better-looking from the descriptions." Aunt Ginerva said. I shook her hand, and smiled nervously.

She was a very bright and cheerful person.

"Julia, let's put your luggage in our tent."  Rose guided me towards outside to one of the tents.

I nodded at Aunt Ginerva before leaving and she nodded back gleefully before I followed Rose outside.

The inside of the small and cramped tent was extremely spacious, comfy and beautifully decorated. There was even a fireplace with lots of stockings hanging on it and the warm heat melted my freezing skin.

On the colourful beanbag couches in front of the fireplace, Hailey and Lily - James' little sister - was dozing peacefully.

Rose took me to my room. There was a wooden chair and a desk, a wardrobe placed at end of the small comfy bed, a mini bookshelf filled with books about muggles, and a small furry carpet on the floor.

The room was small but it was so beautifully decorated.

"I get the room all to myself?" I said, looking at Rose uncertainly.

"Everyone's room the same, don't feel bad about it." Rose laughed and told me to put my luggage down. We walked out from the tent and helped everyone else inside the Shell Cottage to get ready for dinner.

When I walked inside the Shell Cottage, there were a few new faces. Actually, there were a lot of people who I didn't know.

I had a tough time remembering the names Rose listed.

"Oh hey, Julia!" I heard James' voice from behind me, walking through the door with his broomstick.

A tall red-haired man suddenly grinned mischievously when he saw James saying 'Hey' to me.

"Ooooooh, James." The man said in a funny female voice.

"George! Don't tease him!" A beautiful brown skin woman elbowed him hard and he grinned playfully back at her. Rose introduced the two of them as Uncle George and Aunt Angelina.

"Fleur, can you pass me more plates?" Uncle Bill said to his stunning wife. Aunt Fleur smiled lovingly and handed him the plates that he asked for.

The atmosphere inside the house was warm, busy, cheerful, and full of joy.

"Merry Christmas!" A group of three entered the house. The three people who just entered were another red-hair man, a beautiful woman with bushy brown hair, and a messy black hair man with green eyes. The last man had a scar on his forehead.

"Mum! Dad!" Rose's face beamed when she saw them. She was talking to the first two people who entered the house. The two people smiled at me.

"Rose, is she your friend?" Her mom, Hermione Weasley, asked.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Julia Springforth." I greeted, before the both of them went inside the dining room to greet everyone else.

Rose immediately introduced me to one of her uncles who was standing at the door, the green-eye person whose scar was legendary.

"Uncle Harry, this is my friend, Julia." Rose said.

"Hello, Julia. Nice to meet you." Uncle Harry said and I shook his hand. James was chuckling besides me.

"You looked nervous while talking to my dad." James commented, smiling, while we were strolling down the beach just before dinner. The air was cold and chilly, but I could use some of the gentle sound of the rolling waves before going inside the Shell Cottage, which was bustling with chatter and greetings.

Rose was busy waking up Hailey and Lily in the meantime.

"He's... legendary." I sighed,  explaining why I was a bit nervous to meet James' dad. A cold breeze brushed against my cheeks and I tucked my hands inside my pockets.

"You'll get used to it." James also let out a sigh and we went back to the Shell Cottage. For a moment, I thought he was saying I would get used to the cold. But then after a lot of thinking, I realized he was talking about how I would get used to his father's fame.

Inside the Shell Cottage, it was strangely quiet for some reason. We immediately knew the reason why when we walked in, though.

Standing in front of us were Scorpius. And his mom. And of course, his dad, Draco Malfoy, as well.

"I hope you'll pardon my son's intrusion for a few days." Astoria Malfoy, Scorpius' mother, said politely. The Malfoy Family's air was sophisticated with elegance and importance - it felt strange being in their presence.

"Sure, he's definitely welcome." Aunt Ginerva smiled cheerfully back at the Malfoys, hoping to break the tense atmosphere everyone was feeling.

Scorpius was looking at the two of us, me and James, in an apologetical way.

Meanwhile, his father, Sir Malfoy, was having the utmost exciting staring contest with Rose's father, Uncle Ron.

I thought it was never going to end.
