The Next Heir

Julia Springforth was someone to be envied at Hogwarts. She was beautiful and had friends who were famous like Rose Weasley, James Potter and Scorpius Malfoy. Despite that, she never felt proud of herself for being a half- veela, thus she kept it a secret. All her life, she asked herself why she was abandoned by her father and then her mother afterwards, but never got any answers. And then, she soon found herself having abnormal abilities… even for a witch.

((The story will start with Julia being in the first year but there will be a timeskip bringing them to the main story - the fourth year.))

1. The Hogwarts Express

"Hello. Helllooooooo....."

I woke up to someone's voice and rapid knocking on the train compartment door.

"For Merlin's sake, I was being polite by asking if I could sit in this compartment with you but you took forever to wake up!" A first-year girl said grumpily, hands on her waist. She tied her red hair into a ponytail, and there was this really sporty look about her.

"Oh, I'm sorry. Of course you can sit here." I replied, standing up and waited for her to sit down before I proceeded to do the same.

"Well, I'm Hailey McBeth. What's your name?"  She asked haughtily, crossing her leg.  "And which town are you from anyway, it's my first time seeing a white skin, black hair witch." Hailey immediately attacked me with her next question  before I could even answer the first one.

"White skin and black hair are rare?" I asked, surprise and curiousity in my tone.

"Yeah. No. I'm not sure. Anyway, the Quidditch team will think you're too sick and pale to even play." Hailey examined me from top to bottom.

"I don't like Quidditch but it's really hard for first years to join, you know." I sighed.

"Not for me. I'm much taller than girls of our age and I'll definitely make it into the Gryffindor Quidditch team. Although I have to admit, you're pretty tall, too."

A moment of silence passed after Hailey's statement about the Gryffindor Quidditch team.

"Oh. And I'm Julia. Julia Springforth." I introduced myself, embarrassed that I forgot to answer her question in the first place.

"Oh cool, are you a half bl-"

Someone slid the compartment door open, interrupting what Hailey was intending to ask.

"You seriously determine not to go back? Rose is desperate for a female companion..." A tall handsome boy with messy black hair stared at Hailey and questioned her grumpily.

"Not my fault that you guys did that stinky spell! Poor Rose, I completely left her behind! Wait here, James, I'm going to take Rose over here and we'll give you a beating together!" Hailey stood up and left through the sliding door into the long and narrow corridor of the train.

"Don't teach my cousin violent stuff, you lioness!" The James guy's voice and laughter boomed through the corridor, and as soon as Hailey was out of sight, he turned back to look at me.

And then he was just standing there, staring at me for a while.

"Oh, hey, I'm James." He stuttered and smiled, his face turning red.

"You seemed much more confident earlier." I chuckled.

"Gotta live up to the Potter name, you know." He sighed, taking the seat in front of me were Hailey was sitting earlier.

A moment of silence passed in the compartment again.

"Are you a first year as well?" I asked, trying to make a conversation while we were waiting for Hailey.

"No, I'm a second year, Gryffindor. Gryffindor's a nice house to join by the way." James cleared his throat near the end of his sentence, his body stiffened. He blushed and looked away when our eyes met.

We were alone in the compartment and the silence soon filled up the space again. There was still no sign of Hailey's returning.

The train finally stopped before I could remember that I didn't tell him my name.

"I should go back to my cousins now." James stood up and smiled shyly at me.

"Oh hey Julia!" Hailey waved at me as she caught up to me outside the train. She was walking together with an intelligent  looking girl, supposedly James' cousin, Rose.

Behind the two of them, James were walking with a bunch of guys, laughing and joking around with each other loudly.

"Hi, I'm Rose Weasley." Rose shook my hand firmly as she told me her name. I did the same and the three of us headed to the boats.

"Julia, is it just me or are the boys looking at you?" Hailey said. While we were on the boats for a while towards the magnificent Hogwarts castle, a lot of the male first years turned around to look at me.

"I guess it is because she's really beautiful." Rose complimented and smiled at me kindly. I frowned and fiddled with my fingers uncomfortably.

When I looked up across to another boat, there was this pale looking boy with really light blonde hair - almost white - looking back at me.

"Hey Rose! Tell your cousin Albus to pass me a chocolate frog." Hailey sudden demand diverted my attention to another boy of our age, with black messy hair almost the same as James as well.

"Albus is James' younger brother." Rose explained, seeing how completely clueless I was to what Hailey was talking about.
