The Next Heir

Julia Springforth was someone to be envied at Hogwarts. She was beautiful and had friends who were famous like Rose Weasley, James Potter and Scorpius Malfoy. Despite that, she never felt proud of herself for being a half- veela, thus she kept it a secret. All her life, she asked herself why she was abandoned by her father and then her mother afterwards, but never got any answers. And then, she soon found herself having abnormal abilities… even for a witch.

((The story will start with Julia being in the first year but there will be a timeskip bringing them to the main story - the fourth year.))

5. Scorpius was looking for James

Scorpius walked around the room with his bedhead sleepily, as if looking for something.

"Where on earth is he at this hour?" Scorpius groaned. He rubbed his eyes and yawned loudly like a little boy.

"What is he doing?" James whispered, holding in his laughter of seeing cool Scorpius Malfoy acting like a kid.

"I think he's looking for you." I said, a bit surprised that Scorpius cared for James enough to go looking for him. I mean, they were in the Quidditch team together and all, but they never sit down and talked about friendship with each other before. Or at least, from my point of view.

"Why is he looking for me? Am I his mom or something?" James chuckled quietly, covering his mouth with his hand, clearly enjoying the idea of Scorpius looking for him.

"How does Scorpius know you were awake anyway? I mean, you guys don't share the same room right? And what with today - how come you as well, know that I was awake? You didn't go inside the girl's bedroom, didn't you???" I hissed at James angrily. He couldn't have seen me looking at myself in the mirror, couldn't he?

"This is a magic school, there are plenty of ways to know if you're awake or not. And about Scorpius, he probably noticed that my snoring from the other room stopped so he woke up as well." James joked.

I punched his arm. Imagine Scorpius finding us under James' cloak at 2 a.m. in the morning, sitting closely next to each other. It wouldn't be a pretty sight.

Scorpius walked around the room a few more times, and then sat on the comfy sofa, staring at the fireplace.

"I bet he's going to fall asleep right there soon..." James said.

"Wait... what are we waiting for? Can't we just go back to my room with your cloak?" I asked.

"But I like sitting closely to you like this." James sulked. I pinched his arm hard and he squinted his eyes, trying to not shout out loud in pain.

"I hate you!" I hissed at him again. But  despite that, James didn't complain about me acting annoyed or bossy. Instead, he just smiled as we sat there looking into each other's eyes.

"You seem really tired, Julia." Hailey commented softly, seeing how I was putting my head down onto my table during Transfiguration class.

"Maybe you should go to Madam Pomfrey for a rest." Rose adviced, still focused on the lesson nevertheless.

I walked by myself towards the lake, in hope of getting some fresh air. Rose was checking the library for the upcoming year's textbooks, while Hailey decided to go broom-flying with some Gryffindors.

I sat down on the grass, staring at the woods on the other side of the lake. Suddenly, someone approached me from behind.

"Hey, Julia. What are you doing here?" he said, smiling gently at me.

"Hi, Scorpius. It feels peaceful here, you know." I replied, forcing myself to smile. It felt a bit awkward when he sat down next to me, wondering if his attitude towards me would've changed if he had found me and James together this morning.

"You seem tired in class today. Are you okay?" Scorpius asked, worrying about me. I grinned.

"How about you? Everything's good between you and your dad? I mean... Gryffindor... an stuff..." My voice went softer at the end of the question. 4 years ago, there was a slight chance of Scorpius getting into Slytherin, but I had somehow talked to him and the hat and made it all changed.

That's why - if anyone is unhappy about the outcome, it ought to be me to be blamed.

"My dad and I did not talk at all for the first two vacations. But over the last vacations, he had... kind of forgave me and we are now fine again. Well, to be honest, he is a much more loving father than his father was." Scorpius sighed, smiling at the water.

We sat there for a moment in silence. The pale boy who used to be so unconfident about himself because of his bloodline, has now all grown up into a fine young man.

Sometimes, Scorpius reminded me of myself - someone who was ashamed of their family's past.

"Hey, Julia." Scorpius finally said when it was almost the time for the next class.

"Master..." Suddenly, a voice reached out to me from behind. Something... Something was moving along the castle's walls.
