The Next Heir

Julia Springforth was someone to be envied at Hogwarts. She was beautiful and had friends who were famous like Rose Weasley, James Potter and Scorpius Malfoy. Despite that, she never felt proud of herself for being a half- veela, thus she kept it a secret. All her life, she asked herself why she was abandoned by her father and then her mother afterwards, but never got any answers. And then, she soon found herself having abnormal abilities… even for a witch.

((The story will start with Julia being in the first year but there will be a timeskip bringing them to the main story - the fourth year.))

6. It got stranger...

Chapter 6:

"Julia?" Scorpius's voice immediately made me snapped back to reality.

"Did you hear it?" I asked, my heart beating rapidly with fear.

"No, what are you talking about?"  he  said.

I gulped.

"I... uh... never mind. What were you going to ask me?" I jumped back to the real conversation, only to find Scorpius staring strangely at me.

"I've... already asked it just now." Scorpius hesitantly replied.

"Sorry... Can you repeat it again? I just hear something and..."

"Never mind. I think you just didn't want to hear my question, that's all." Scorpius snapped, his face turning solemn. I shuddered, never seeing him losing his composure before.

The both of us walked back together to the castle in silence, Scorpius walking ahead of me.

"I... See you later..." I said to him as he went to his class.

The rest of the day felt horrible.

"Are you okay, Julia?" Rose asked me when we were already lying down in our beds.

"I'm fine... Just a bit distracted, I guess..." I replied.

"Well, I was talking about the Yule Ball. Who do you think I should ask among the names listed?" Hailey excitedly said.

"Uh... I'm sorry... Can you repeat it again?"

"Never mind... What's wrong with you today?" Hailey angrily snapped. I opened my mouth to apologize but then decided that I should just keep my mouth shut.

That night, I had a dream of me reconciling with my family. But it was strange. I saw Hailey talking with James and Scorpius being a Slytherin.

As if I didn't... exist.

I opened my eyes as soon as I heard a voice in the middle of the night. I could feel it... Something moving, slithering, calling out from the ceiling above me.

I closed my eyes tightly.

"Master... Master..." The voice called out again.

No matter how I tried to ignore it, the voice gave chills down my spine. The voice felt like... a snake's.

I took a deep breath and clutched my fists.

"That's it." I told myself.

I kicked my blanket and slipped my feet into my slippers.

"Whatever is bothering me - I'm gonna find out now."

I wandered through the dark and cold corridors, my wand's tip litting the path in front of me.

"Master... This way..." The voice guided me.

"This is..." I said as soon as I've realized where it had lead me to.

The first-floor girl's lavatory.

I entered the bathroom and an eerie feeling sent goosebumps all over my body.

Moaning Myrtle, the bathroom's usual haunter, wasn't there.

Everything felt awfully quiet.

Suddenly, a gust of breeze blew from outside the bathroom door, pushing against me as if urging me to move forward.

And then I found myself standing in front of the sinks.

I reached my hand out for the tap.

No water.

"What is this? Why isn't it fixe-" And then, my eyes caught onto something on the side of the tap. A carving of a snake.

I stood there, touching the carving over and over again.

"This is strange... Why did the school carve Slytherin's symbol onto here...?" I mulled. And why did the strange voice led me to here?

"Julia...Julia... You're going to be late for class..." Rose's urgent voice was the first thing I heard the next morning.

Last night, after finally reaching the place the strange voice lead me to, I gave up on finding the meaning behind its doing and went back to my bed. My head hurts terribly the next morning.

"Rose... Can you tell Professor I'm not feeling well today? I will try to attend the afternoon classes, I promise."

Rose sighed and left me behind on my bed, thinking about what had happened so far.

And after a while, I dozed off.

Suddenly, I dreamt of something strange - something that felt so... real.

A boy in Gryffindor uniform was flying on his broom as fast as he can up high, his friends standing on the Quidditch ground, throwing a Bludger at him for pratice purpose. And then, out of nowhere, a dark ghostly shadow flew out, facing the Gryffindor guy and looking in his eyes. The guy stopped flying and his face turned paler and paler.

The dark shadow was sucking some kind of force out of him. The Gryffindor boy lost conscious, losing his grip and fell off his broom.

I immediately woke up before I could see him hitting the ground.

That was when I realized that the ghostly dark shadow was a Dementor.

And the boy was Scorpius.
