Things I can't

Travelling all around the world, Harry left Hayley with only her eyes to wipe, untold words, a broken promise and a shattered heart.
But some things can't be erased : a past full of memories she'd rather forget but always will cherish, and an indelible mark, bonding them, forever will remain.
Three little words engraved in her skin and meaningless now that he's gone.

Harry's POV

It must have been 5 hours since Niall left. He didn't want me to come with him... I was beginning to worry. It was Zayn's phone that got me out of my thoughts when it rang..

Zayn's POV

I picked up my phone; it was Niall. He spoke so fast I could not understand what he was saying; he seemed panicked. I wanted to ask him to calm down and calmly explain to me what happened but I could see Harry staring at me, watching my reaction. I decided it was better to leave the room to talk quietly with Niall...

Harry's POV

As I stared at Zayn, I saw that he looked confused while he was listening the person talking on the phone. He glanced at me, worried, and left the room. I immediately understood what was happening: it was Niall and there was something wrong with Hayley. I knew very well that if I tried to follow Zayn, the boys would try to stop me. Despite how hard it was, I tried to control myself. If there really was something wrong, Zayn would have to come back here, he wasn't dressed to go out in this weather. He would then have to tell me everything; he wouldn't have the choice anyway.

A few minutes later, we saw him coming back in the room; running everywhere to dress himself.
"C'mon boys, Niall need us" he shouted, glancing at Louis and Liam. I felt like my head was about to explode. I couldn't hear Zayn explaining to them  what had happened.
Once I regained my senses, I posted myself in front of the door, preventing them from passing, so that Zayn had to tell me what happened. I felt a mix of panic, anxiety and fear overrunning my body. Actually, I did not know if I really wanted to know what was happening; it could be worse that what thought...  So I pushed myself away from the front of the door, staring down at my trembling hands.
All the boys dressed themselves hastily. As they rushed to the door, I pushed myself aside without even realizing what was happening around me. Louis and Zayn already were out of the room. Liam stopped in front of me, one hand on my shoulder:
"Come on Harry, dress you warmly. New York is big; one more person won't be too much to help us find her; and then, you're one of us who knows the most this city." he said, his voice full of compassion.
I looked up at him, a weak smile on my face. Then, I quickly grabbed my coat and my scarf, and we rushed down the stairs towards the street, joining the others.

When we got downstairs, the boys looked at me strangely, then looked at Liam who shrugged and smiled. It must be about 1 am, and the night was freezing. We went where we saw her for the last time and we separated in two groups: Niall and me; and Louis, Liam and Zayn together.

As it was already an hour since we were looking for her with Niall, anxiety grew in me.

We rushed in a small street, and that's when we saw her; lying on the frozen ground, unconscious, under a lamp street.
