Scurrilous Stories

"I-It can't be..." she stuttered, stepping back and dropping the black shotgun that was in her hand.
"I-I didn't know it was her love. Please..." he coughed out, crying.
"You killed her!" she screamed, breaking down and collapsing on her knees.
"Baby please. I love you." he said, as she looked up.
There was a brief silence, before a cough was heard.
"I love you too." she cried out, burying her head in her hands.

41. Prominent Pizza

|Chapter 41|

Prominent Pizza

Nadine Halliday arrived at Pizza Hut, walking inside and spying the booths for a head of dirty-blonde hair.

When her eyes finally set on the figure, she was startled to see someone sitting next to Justin.

It was obviously a male, who had broad toned shoulders from behind, covered in black leather and a head of blonde hair cut short.

Nadine curiously approached the pair, smiling when it was confirmed that the person sitting at the booth was indeed Justin.

“Hey gorgeous.”

Nadine leaned over the table, as Justin stood up and cupped her face, kissing her lips hastily.

“Err please.” A deep raspy voice complained, as Justin and Nadine sat down, Justin chuckling.

Nadine was sat across the blonde haired boy, while Justin was seated next to him.

Nadine clasped her hands on her lap as Justin called some inside joke, making the blonde boy chuckle.

“So this is her?” the blonde boy asked, raising his eyebrows and giving Justin a approving nod.

“Yeah bro. Um, Nad, this is Nate. My best friend.”

Nadine nodded and leaned over the table to give Nate a firm handshake before sitting back in her place.

“Nice to meet you Nadine.” Nate smiled at the tanned beauty, Justin becoming slightly jealous.

“Ditto.” Nadine chorused, before the table became silent.

“So, um, do you wanna order something? I’ll go up to the counter and ask.” Nate stuttered, as Justin and Nadine gave him an approving nod.

“What do you guys want?”

“Pepperoni.” Both Nadine and Justin said in unison, Nadine blushing afterwards and Justin chuckling.

Justin reached over the table and grabbed one of Nadine’s cold hands, rubbing his thumb over her knuckles.

“So cute, you two.” Nate sassed, earning a blow to the stomach by Justin.

“Alright, alright.” Nate coughed out, jokingly holding his stomach and stumbling over to the counter.

Justin laughed out loud, shaking his head in disbelief at his best friend, before turning back to Nadine.

“Hey.” Justin breathed out, smiling at his girlfriend.

“Wow, your best friend is… a character.” Nadine giggled, as Justin positively beamed at her.

“Yeah he’s cool. Sorry I brought him as a third-wheel tonight, unexpected. He’d just come back from New Jersey after seeing his grandmother and I haven’t seen him in ages.” Justin stated, as Nadine nodded and smiled.

“How come I haven’t seen him before? Or even heard of him?” Nadine asked curiously, wondering why she hadn’t even seen a glimpse of him at maybe school.

“Oh, I think he just, slipped my mind. But he goes to Stratty Central so… that’s probably why you haven’t seen him.” Justin shrugged, sending another smile Nadine’s way.

Nadine merely nodded, as Nate came back to the table, holding a bottle of Sprite, a bottle of Dr. Pepper and a bottle of Coke.

“Sprite’s for Justin. And I have a feeling you’ve been digging Dr. Pepper Nadine….” Nate stated, throwing the Sprite bottle to Justin and placing the Dr. Pepper on the table.

“Oh wow Nate. Thanks. It was like you read my mind.” Nadine replied, twisting the cap off the bottle.

Justin shot Nate a pointing look, knowing what he’d done. Nate merely shrugged and sat back in the booth with the couple.

“They said they’ll give us our pizza when it’s ready.” Nate cleared up, making both Nadine and Justin nod.

“So…” Nadine dragged out, drumming her fingernails on the counter top.

“Justin! What did your dad say about New York?” Nadine asked curiously, also ecstatic.

“Oh um….” Justin stuttered trying to find the words to say.

He had asked his dad, and in fact, his dad said he couldn’t go.

But like he said, he’d go no matter what, but he didn’t want his dad flying over to go find him, or rather, running over.

He didn't want Nadine worrying about being on the 'bad side' of Jeremy, so he went with the easier option, and lied to her.

“Yeah, he ah, said I could go.” Justin smiled, as Nate’s eyes widen.

“New York bro? Wow. What’s the occasion?” Nate asked excitedly.

“My dad lives over there and I haven’t seen him in a few months so he bought me a ticket to go over there. Thought it would be a great opportunity for Justin to finally meet him.” Nadine explained, smiling sweetly.

“Oh awesome sauce.” Nate replied, making Nadine giggle.

 “Your pizzas guys?”

A boy about 15 years of age approached the table, holding two large pizza boxes in his hands.

“Oh yeah, thanks bro.” Justin replied, hungrily drooling as the cheesy smell wafted through the air.

He hadn’t eaten since lunchtime at school.

Justin opened the pizza box and dug in, soon after encouraging Nadine to eat also.
