Scurrilous Stories

"I-It can't be..." she stuttered, stepping back and dropping the black shotgun that was in her hand.
"I-I didn't know it was her love. Please..." he coughed out, crying.
"You killed her!" she screamed, breaking down and collapsing on her knees.
"Baby please. I love you." he said, as she looked up.
There was a brief silence, before a cough was heard.
"I love you too." she cried out, burying her head in her hands.

6. Cagey Customer

|Chapter 6|

Cagey Customer

Nadine woke up with her face planted in the pages of supernatural magazine. She lifted her head off the page and rubbed her face with her hands.

With a yawn, she rolled over onto her back at sat up. She stretched her arms up before emitting a yawn again.

She wearily planted her feet on the floor-boards of her room, before walking out of her bedroom and into the hallway.

She had work today, and she was so looking forward to it.

Note the sarcasm.

She ate her cereal, before taking a shower in the bathroom.

After drying, straightening and brushing her hair, she changed into her outfit for today, which was a pair of acid-washed skinny jeans and a red Adidas sweater.

After slipping on a pair of All Stars, she tucked her hair behind her ears and exited her room.

Nadine left the house, after leaving a kiss on her dad’s cheek, and begun her walk to school, feeling like a change of scenery (as she usually took the bus).

Today was Friday, the last day of the school week, thankfully.

When Nadine reached school she spotted her best-friends Rachael and Thomas by the front of the school. She approached them and gave them both a hug, before they started their conversation.

“So I heard you had a hot make-out session with that creepy Justin kid.” Thomas said, leaning against the wall.

“It wasn’t a hot make-out session!” Nadine argued, throwing her hands up in the air, “he kissed me, and I tried pushing him off me.”

“That’s not what the Elrod twins said.” Thomas said in a sing-song tone.

Just as she expected, Loretta and Louise had messaged the whole school an attachment picture of Justin kissing Nadine.

Nadine shook her head in annoyance, as she knew that the Elrod twins had every single person’s cell phone number in the school (as everyone was into their gossip).

Thomas started laughing, clutching his stomach and pointing to someone who was approaching Nadine from behind.

Nadine raised her eyebrows at her friend, before realizing what she was laughing about. Justin was approaching her with a bouquet of purple daisies, which happened to be her favorite flower.

She gaped at the bouquet, as Justin placed it in her hands. He scratched the back of his neck awkwardly, before speaking.

“Um, these are just a sorry for kissing you yesterday.” Justin said, before walking into the school.

“Awww that’s sweet!” Rachael said who was a sucker for romantic gestures.

Nadine rolled her eyes and hugged the flowers to her chest. These were the prettiest bunch of purple daisies she’s ever seen.

She smiled at the bunch, before a thought struck her.

How did he know what her favorite flower was?

“Hey hey!” Sarah exclaimed, giving Nadine a hug.

“Hi Sarah.” Nadine chuckled, before picking up her waitress pad.

“Alright, I’ll take table 5,” Sarah said, gesturing to the table with the young couple, “and you take table 11.” She said, gesturing to the table where a young guy wearing a pair of ray bans sat, with an older guy across from him.

Nadine nodded, taking a deep breath before approaching them.

“Hello, I'm Nadine, your waitress for tonight. What may I get you?”

“Um, I’ll have a Coke.” The young guy said who happened to have a very familiar voice.

“And I’ll have a Sprite.” The older guy said, just as Nadine jotted it down in her pad.

“Is that all for tonight?’ she asked politely.

“No, we’ll order our meals later.” The older man said, Nadine nodding in response.

“I’ll be back in a sec.” Nadine said, before turning on her heels and walking into the kitchen.

She knows that voice.

That raspy smooth voice that sends uncomfortable chills down her spine. She just can’t quite put her finger on it.

Justin Bieber leaned his head on his hand that was propped up by his elbow. His ray bans were just slipping down his nose, showcasing his caramel eyes.

“Dad, that’s her.” He whispered to Jeremy Bieber, who was sitting across from him in their restaurant booth.

“The waitress?” Jeremy asked, looking over at Nadine.

“Yeah…” Justin muttered.

Their conversation was cut short when Nadine approached them, placing their drinks in glass cups on their table top.

“I’ll be back in a minute to take your meal orders.” Nadine said, flashing them a smile before walking away again.

Justin twirled his straw that was in his soda, before talking again.

“Isn’t she beautiful?” Justin asked Jeremy, who nodded briefly.

“She’s a good one.” Jeremy said, winking at Justin.

Justin groaned, a blush creeping up on his cheeks, before he buried his head in his hands.

Jeremy chuckled, before speaking again.

“You know you have to control yourself, yeah?”

“Yeah I know, it’s just gonna be… hard.” Justin said, shuffling in his seat.

“Yeah, I know the feeling.” Jeremy said, “But when did you realize she was the one?”

“She always went to my school, but not until we had an unusual encounter, did I know she was the one.” Justin said, knowing his dad would get the drift.

“She saw you in wolf form!” Jeremy whisper-shrieked.

“Yeah but dad, it wasn’t like that. She actually pat me, and held me close. It was the best feeling in the world.” Justin said, closing his eyes at the thought.

“So Nadine is your mate?” Jeremy asked.

“Yes, and I’m not letting her go.” Justin said, his eyes darkening at the thought of her being with someone else.

“Calm down Justin.” Jeremy warned, pointing a finger at him.

Justin became less tense, and his shoulders slumped. He sighed and ran a hand through his hair.

“Dad I need her touch, it’s what keeps me calm, grounded. We feed off our mate’s touch. It’s nature.” Justin said, groaning inwardly.

“Yeah I know Justin. But you can’t just force yourself onto her, it’ll take time.” Jeremy said, just as Justin and he caught sight of Nadine coming out of the kitchen and towards their table.

“Are you ready to order your meals?” she asked.

“Yeah, we’ll just have a toasted sandwich each.” Jeremy said, looking over at Justin with a raised eyebrow.

“OK, is that all?” she asked, uncertainly.

“Yep.” Justin said, leaning back in his seat.

“It’ll be right up.” She said, turning on her heels.

Justin sighed, knowing he won’t get her as easily as he intended, but he will try all he can.
