6. Chapter Six

The coming months were beautiful. We met everyday after school and in the lunch breaks. I caught Shekhar peaking into my class every now and then, though I never mentioned it. Through my boards and exams it was Shekhar who stopped me from being a nervous wreck and even though we both knew that this probably was the last year for me in school Shekhar was always there to cheer me up and give me hope. He was my light. We managed to meet twice outside school too

The first time, I was supposed to be his classmate who had his homework. We both were so excited that we had decided all that we'd do a week in advance. But unfortunately Shekhars father decided to drop him to his friend as they were somewhere around my house, at their relatives place. So in the five minutes we had all we managed was to laugh out loud. It was the first time Shekhar had seen me wearing something instead of the school uniform. Even through the laughter I could see his surprise.

Yes we did talk all night again. All about how he had managed to sneak away from his cousins to come, and how while trying to tease him they had incidentally guessed the right reason.

The next morning I woke up early again. For a change, I decided to be the one to take my dog for a walk. By chance Shekhar seemed to be the early riser that day too. The moment I told him that I was down for a walk he came running. The distance which anyone would run in ten minutes he covered in five. But the moment we saw each other all the energy seemed to slip right back. We talked and talked for a long time, and just as he was about to leave he caught me in a tight hug. I was too shocked to react.

As I walked home I felt happy but I was also upset. Maybe it was because I knew I was getting into something I wasn't supposed to or maybe it was because it didn't feel right
