Beautiful Nightmares

Bella Tomlinson, sister of Louis Tomlinson, gets pregnant with Liam Payne's baby. No worries, right? Wrong. The next nine months is complete and utter chaos, even more so when a once loved work colleague changes his mind about Bella for the worse. Will Bella and Liam's love last long enough to see their baby together, or will Rick make sure that death does them part?

3. Fiji

I sat alone in my dreams. A courtyard of black stone, my place of grief, isolation forever. What he had done to me had made me an outcast, something different, someone different. The baby gurgled in my arms. Was it worth it? One movement, one single movement and it could end. It looked up at me with soulful, brown eyes.

They were his eyes though. Liam eyes. I couldn't destroy him. My boyfriend. My love. The baby started wailing, filling my ears with the sound, filling my heart with sadness, regretting what I had thought, regretting what terrible crime I had dwelled on carrying out. But right now, it seemed like the only way out of this mess I had gotten myself into.

I awoke, with light streaming through the curtains.  Liam’s bare back lay facing me. I smiled, stretching. Jet lag had got the better of us, and energy drained, we slept contently, laying together, with him singing softly in my ear:

“I’m sorry that I say I need you

But I don’t care, I’m not scared of love

Cause when I’m without you I’m weaker

Is that so wrong

Is it so wrong

That you make me strong.”

That was one of the last normal moments we had before the trauma started.

I kissed him on the cheek, and got out of bed. I unpacked my shampoo and went to have a shower, relieved that Liam hadn't lost them.  I turned on the shower, waiting for it to heat up, standing there in my underwear.

Liam walked in. His eyes widened.

"Enjoying the view?" I asked.

He looked at me funny.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" I tried to cover myself up with my hands.

His head cocked to one side. "Just thinking about how much I want to kiss you right now."  He smirked.

He took my hands.

I leaned forward, pressing my lips to his. He pushed me against the wall, his hands gripping my shoulder blades. The kiss got deeper, mouths moving. His hands crept down my back and started fiddling with my bra strap. I cried out, pulling away.  "Don't. I'm not ready."

Liam pulled me right back, trapping me against him with his arms.

"I know. I'm sorry." He squeezed me.

"The others are waiting for us downstairs. Go freshen up."

He released me and walked away, looking slightly off put.

I shut the door. "You stupid wuss." I muttered to myself, wishing that I had let him go further. I don’t know why I was scared. I trust Liam with my life, let alone my body, and it’s not like we were strangers. Liam and I had been friends for eight years, and dating for six. In that time we had made love many times, all without batting an eye. Why was now different? I realized the shower was still running and shook my head, stripping off and stepping into the water. I was such a baby. I wanted it. So did he. But I had ruined it. I didn’t recognize the emotion that had come over me when I had said ‘stop’. I froze, realization washing over me.

Fear triggered by that stupid dream. Fear of having a child. And for what reason? I loved children, having four younger sisters of my own, and Louis who still acted like a little five year old, even though he was three years older than me. I poured over it, until eventually the hot water ran out, and the pleasant warmth turned to ice on my body.

Liam met me in the lobby, wearing jeans and a loose top. I fell into his arms.

"How are you wearing long pants in this weather?" I mumbled into his shirt, breathing in his smell.  I felt him shrug.

"I don't have any shorts."

"Buy some. You look stupid wearing jeans when it's like, thirty degrees outside."

"Nag nag nag. I’ll get a pair after brunch."

He unhooked my hands from around his neck. "Come on."

He led me to a table outside, where everyone else was sitting. Perrie came and gave me an enthusiastic hug.

"Did you sleep well hun?"

Her happy attitude made me forget about my encounter with Liam in the bathroom. Perrie is my best friend since nursery school, and she always knows how to make me feel better. I hugged her back, grateful for her friendship.  "To well." I yawned, stretching.

"Foods coming soon! Harry ordered for you two!”

She sat down next to Zayn. She looked pale, weary, despite the heat of the Fijian sun and her bright smile.

"Bella!" Niall shouted my name. "Where's mine?" He opened his arms. I sighed and hugged him too. I saw Ri standing shyly a few meters away, waiting to get her boyfriend back.

"Ri get in here!" I called at her to join the hug. She smiled and came over to us, kissing Niall first.

Niall did an El. He wouldn't let go of us. He had both of us in a slight head lock, sitting on either side of him.

"Does he always do this to you?" I asked Ri, looking at her over Niall's stomach.

She looked down. "Yeah. Sort of."

"You're not much of a talker, are you?"

"Uh, I-"

"Like hell she is!"

Niall interrupted us.

"She won't stop! Well, she has now I guess... What's wrong, love?"

Ri looked uncomfortable for a second.

She was hiding something. I could see it in her eyes, the way she was biting her lip.  I struggled loose from Niall's grip, then pulled Ri free and dragged her underneath a palm tree.

"What's the matter?" I asked.

She just stared at me blankly. "Nothing. Nothing at all."

I narrowed my eyes, studying her nervous expression. "Niall's not the kind of guy that would lie. If he said you were talkative before, you were. Start singing."

She glanced over her shoulder at Niall.

"I can't tell you. I'm sorry." Tears were starting to form in her eyes. "It's too private."

"I'll tell you one of mine."

Ri hesitated. "Go on."

I told her about the dream this morning and on the plane, about Liam in the bathroom. Suddenly it didn’t hurt so much, and at first I was scared that Ri would laugh. But her face softened in not what I would recognize as amusements, but as sympathy.

She stood there bewildered.

"That makes mine sound less terrible. I do talk a lot… it’s just I love Niall, but all the fans and paparazzi are making it so hard. They say I don’t deserve him, I’m too ugly.  And some of them say he’s just getting using me as a stepping stone to get to models and superstars and leave me alone in the dirt...”

She was full on sobbing by now, unable to finish her sentence.

I put my arm around her. "It's ok. Niall loves you too, I can see it in his eyes. He thinks the world of you, Ri and no amount of hate will change that. He hates models as well, thinks they’re too perfect.”

Ri sniffed and nodded.

She said, smiling.

I took my place next to Niall again, Ri following after. I shot her a reassuring smile.  Liam sat down next to me, something hidden behind his back.

 "Close your eyes."

He brought whatever it was out.

He whispered. In his hand he held a box.

 "Look in inside."

 I shifted the lid aside.

My mouth dropped open, looking at the contents of the box. It was a white, whale bone heart on a chain.

“Liam… it’s beautiful!"

I beamed at him and clasped my hand in his. .  He smiled.

"Put it on, love." He lifted it from its case and fastened it around my neck.

"Where did you get it?" I asked, admiring the pendant that now hung around my throat.

Liam pointed to a small shack not far away. "Gift shop. I bought some shorts too." He reached into the bag and brought out the ugliest pair of shorts I'd ever seen. They were white, with hula dancers all over it, wearing leis, grass skirts and coconut bikini tops. I mentally face palmed myself. "Are you actually planning to wear those?"

He looked at the shorts, then me. "I thought they'd be funny."

"They are funny." I rested my head on his shoulder. "Please tell me you bought another pair though."

"I did. I'm wearing them." I looked down at his hairy legs, now showcased by plain, black board shorts. I breathed deeply, knowing I wouldn't have to walk around with a boyfriend that looks like he's wearing a circus on his legs.

"Harold!" Louis, called for Harry, holding hands with El.

Harry ducked beneath the table, crawling on hands and knees over to my legs. I kicked him, playfully.

“Bit old to be playing hide and seek aren’t we, Harry?"

He looked up at me, hitting his head on the table.

"I owe Louis carrots. There's no frigging carrots in Fiji!"

He tucked into a ball, hoping by some slim chance that Louis wouldn't see him.

Louis pounced, tackling him onto his back.

"Styles! You owe me!"

He tugged on one of Harry's curls. Harry held his hands up in a surrender, attempting to smooth his hair down at the same time.

"When we get back to London, ok?"

Louis gave him a funny look, considering his offer.

"Make it twenty carrots then we have a deal."

"That's like ten bucks worth!"

"Don't care. You made a promise."

Harry rolled his eyes.

"I knew this would come back to bite me in the ass. Fine. Make it fifteen though."

"Good. I expect those fifteen carrots in my hands within a week of our return."

"Whatever. You can get off me now Louis. You're sitting on my phone."

Louis rolled over, dusted himself off and got up. He saw me staring and winked.

"That's how you get something you want, sweetheart."

I wrapped my arms around Liam’s neck.

"Payne! You owe me..."

He splashed me.

"Holy shit. You didn't just do that."

He grinned.

"Payback for the plane."

"That was different. Get over here."

I pulled him towards me in the water. Our faces came closer together, noses nearly touching.  Our lips brushed against each other’s slightly. This was private. Nobody else in the pool but us. We could do whatever we wanted. He kissed me, catching me off guard. I moved closer into him, my bare stomach pressing against his. I could feel his heart beating rapidly, rushing like my own. We held onto each other, not wanting to let go, never wanting to be apart. His hands moved up from my ribs, up, following my spine. Again, he struggled with my bikini top. But this time I wouldn't make him stop. We could have ended up doing "it" in the hotel pool, oblivious to anyone but ourselves. Just us.

But of course, privacy is scarce when you have seven other people staying with you. When you have it, take it. All of a sudden, Zayn came out of nowhere, entering the pool with a spectacular dive. He emerged, shaking himself of excess water in a dog like fashion.

"Sorry. I just had to do that. Carry on."

He watched us eagerly, hoping for us to start again.

"No? Alright, I killed it. Perrie!"

"Sorry guys. I told him not to.”

Perrie carefully hopped in the pool, swimming over to her boyfriend.

He gently took her face in his hands, kissing her.

We heard another splash, Harry wading over to us.

"Excuse me, Bella, can I borrow Liam quickly?"

I pecked Liam on the cheek.

"Alright. I'm getting out anyway." I swam to the edge.

"Bells! Babe, wait up."

"What?" I brushed a strand of wet hair away from my face.

He smiled. "Love ya."

"Love you too."

He kissed me again, leaning forward as I was already halfway out of the pool.

"I'm going to have a shower. Meet you for dinner in an hour."

I wrapped a towel around my body.

Liam went back over to Harry, whispering furiously, glancing in my direction from time to time. Were they hiding something from me? I stood studying them for a while. Neither of them looked upset or worried. If anything they were happy about it. Harry caught me staring and quickly gave Liam a sharp elbow to the ribs and nodded at me. Liam smiled, and waved. I shot them a half-smile, then turned around, back to the hotel.
