Movella Reviews

Hello everybody! This is a completely unoriginal idea but here I am, starting a movella review report. I can't review anything marked as red (not old enough) but I can read over anything marked green or yellow. I would prefer not to have fan-fics about 1D or Justin Bieber, but if it absolutely desperate, I would be more than happy to review it. Just leave the name of your book in the comments below and I will review them ASAP. :)

18. The Curse of the Pumpkin- CaityC 1808

This Movella goes down as one of the most creative halloween stories I've read. It's different, new and unusual which I'm sure all of you know that I love!

Unlike the regular haunted house, blood and gore story, Caity made the tale of these three girls comical but also spooky. The main character invites her friends over to go trick or treating and she dresses up as a devil. Firstly, I love the description of the costume. It was fantastic and I could clearly see the classic devil attire. Moreover, the fact that she wanted to look "fierce instead of cute" really give the reader a good insight to the character. I love how she also has all of these little human faults, for instance, she secretly favors one of her friends costumes, she makes the mistake of stealing and lying and she also regrets; all very human characteristics which give the story a very realistic feel.

I also like how Caity does things like giving the house number number 13 on Dead Lane. I thought it wad very witty and classic by giving the cursed house an unlucky number. I don't know about you all but the number 13 just always gives me the creeps (don't ask.)

The villain in this story is pretty cool, too because it most spooky stories, the cursed guy/girl is usually some sort of ghoul or zombie but in this one it was a pumpkin which I thought was pretty creative. Mr. Pumpkin has a good definite personality and what I like about him is he is very inviting, not at all scary which is the thing that makes him scary, in a sense. At first he seems trusting and okay but the second the girls steal the candy, he become terribly frightening.

Finally, I love the curse at the end. I mean, not 'love' it but it is a true curse. Sometimes, the character just dies which is really more of a release from a curse than anything. At the end, the girls were bind together and couldn't speak and I thought this was extremely creepy and most unfortunate.

Overall, this was an awesome Halloween story that certainly deserves a gold medal!
