Movella Reviews

Hello everybody! This is a completely unoriginal idea but here I am, starting a movella review report. I can't review anything marked as red (not old enough) but I can read over anything marked green or yellow. I would prefer not to have fan-fics about 1D or Justin Bieber, but if it absolutely desperate, I would be more than happy to review it. Just leave the name of your book in the comments below and I will review them ASAP. :)

15. My Movellas Love-MissGurly

Sometimes, I sit in my room and just scroll endlessly down lists of fantasy stories, wishing I could find something I could actually RELATE to and don't get me wrong, I love fantasy stories but it is refreshing to read a realistic one, once in a while.

I just finished reading My Movellas Love by MissGurly and for someone who doesn't speak English as their first language, well let's just say that she wrote like she spoke English flawlessly. I managed to read the story with complete clarity, without pausing or stumbling on any mistakes so a big check there!

Anyways, I love the plot line in the blurb. It was explaining about how a girl (Ira) finds Movellas and becomes addicted. However it also explains how it may be possible for her to find love on it. I personally really love this idea because it kind of gives a feeling that there is always a light in the darkness (not to be corny or anything.) I think it is very romantic and sweet, it will certainly be a success when its finished!

Also, MissGurly can really set a scene, I feel, with not only telling the reader what the 'place' is like but also giving us insight to the character's personality and relationships, for example:
"I made a sandwich and poured myself a glass of milk and sat down beside her." I don't know about everybody else, but Ira's movements just give me a feel for what she's like and personally, I think she is kind of shy, quiet and organized. Of course, everyone has different views but that's why I like this writing so much because everyone can interpret it in a different way.

Finally, MissGurly has one of the best talents for writing deeply emotional scenes. She doesn't just go "I felt sad and frantic, my mom was dying." No, she really captures the how Ira is feeling by giving flashbacks, change of tempo and voice. MissGurly doesn't make the whole scene where Ira's mother is dying really fast or really slow, she changes it up. One minute, Ira is having a slow flashback and the next she is screaming at her mother to stay with her. When I was reading, I found that this bit kind of did it all for me:

"Ira, do you hear me?" This is what Kim, her best friend said when she broke the news about her mother to her. I just found that I could picture the scene perfectly; Ira turing away and going into a dream like state, Kim shaking and pushing her, seeing if she's okay... I found the whole thing beautifully written.

Overall, this is a great piece of writing and I can't wait to read more!
