Movella Reviews

Hello everybody! This is a completely unoriginal idea but here I am, starting a movella review report. I can't review anything marked as red (not old enough) but I can read over anything marked green or yellow. I would prefer not to have fan-fics about 1D or Justin Bieber, but if it absolutely desperate, I would be more than happy to review it. Just leave the name of your book in the comments below and I will review them ASAP. :)

21. It Changed Me- Ahlaam

So just the other day I was wishing that I could come up with a fresh original STORY line and plot. What I mean by story is one that has nothing to do with paranormal teenage vampires falling head over heels in love with One Direction (not that I mind that) but that has an interesting plot with a captivating beginning, middle and end.

Well I've found my inspiration.

Ahlaam's movella 'It Changed Me' was a fantastic read and I recommend it to anyone who likes to mix up their favorite genres once in a while. What I really loved about it was that the main character wasn't a teenager and I, believe me, I like teenage characters (I think that it shows that anybody can be strong no matter your age) however this was a very refreshing little change up.

The story circulates around a married journalist who has a wife and kid at home who he can barely pay attention to because of his full time job. However, it seems to me that he comes across a case that just mind change his thought process. I won't give away too much detail but let's just say I LOVED it.

Throughout the story, Ahlaam posted at the top of each chapter the precise time and date which I thought was a great little ingredient as it kind of shows the personality of the journalist: exact and not missing a single detail. Also, I like aspects such as making the kidnapped girl a psychic which I thought was a very dark and intriguing detail that just made the story a little more engaging.

Furthermore, I loved how Ahlaam added the full kid's story in one of the chapters. I thought that it really gave the book a sense of sweetness and cuteness, just like the journalists' son, Jay. Also, the fact that the father says, '"Shouldn't you be in bed? It's past 8!" Said Stephen as he picked up his son.' but then picks up his son really shows the loving relationship between the two as despite the rules, Stephen still picks Jay up like they will stay up for a while.

I really hope that Ahlaam wins the competition that this movella is entered for as it truly deserves recognition for Ahlaam's superb writing skills!
