10. Evening Plans

"True love?" Jessie giggled from on the couch. I was in the kitchen, getting some popcorn. On my way out, I glanced out the hotel window and sighed. Vegas wasn't so fun for a minor.

"That's so cheesy!" Lizzie laughed.

"Why won't they let us write our own songs?" I whined.

"Because we're too afraid to ask." Lizzie answered.

It was early December. We were set to record an album in January, but we came to Vegas to "test-drive" the album. We had a show in a week. My birthday had passed, and I was one year closer to being an adult. I got teased a lot by Jessie and Lizzie who were 19 and loved to let me know often.

"Hey, did you guys read the lyrics to 'Forget Me Not'?" Jessie piped up. We shook out heads.

"Well they're not too bad," she said, "I like this part 'I want you around, but I don't want you with me. Forget me not, but don't remember me'."

"What's that mean?" Lizzie asked.

"Could mean I want you but I shouldn't want you. Don't forget me, but don't think of me often." I shrugged, "I don't know. I'm just guessing."

"No, that seems pretty close," Jessie smiled, "Well, I like this song."

"Seems better than 'Love Calls'" Lizzie teased.

"Man, some of these are pretty bad!" I giggled, "So what are we doing tonight?"

"Oh," Lizzie and Jessie looked at eachother.

"We kinda had something planned," Lizzie said apologetically.

"We have some friends from London who are in Vegas, and they're taking us out." She told me.

"That's fine-

My phone interrupted me. It was a text.

"Looks like I'm not gonna be alone!" I smiled, "Niall just told me he's gonna come over."

Jessie and Lizzie looked at each other and smiled.

"What?" I demanded.

"Well, you and Niall seem very close." Lizzie teased.

"You guys have been spending a lot of time together." Jessie joined in.

"It's not like that," I explained, "He was just my first friend when I got here."

"And you don't have any feelings for him?" Jessie questioned.

"No romantic feelings!" I reassured her, "Plus, I'm sure Harry would not like that!"

"Ha!" Lizzie laughed, "He'd kill you!"

"Exactly!" I winked, "And I wouldn't want to ruin a friendship." I could never tell them what the real reason was. I've only ever told Harry.

"Coming!" I shouted to the repeated knocks on my door. I opened it to reveal a cheeky Irish lad.

"You take for-EVER!" He whined, making his way to the couch.

"And you are incredibly lazy!" I pointed out.

"Touché!" He said, dropping on the couch, "What are we watching?"

"I don't know," I said sitting next to him, "You're the one who wanted to come over."

"Well, what do you have?" He asked. I paused, thinking of all the movies I had with me.

"We could watch elf?" I suggested, "It's close to Christmas!"

"Sure." Niall shrugged.

"Woah!" I stopped, "sure? That movie deserves a 'YEAH!'"

"I've never seen it," Niall admitted.

"What?!" I asked shocked.

"Sorry?" Niall shrugged.

"Well let's get it started!" I smiled, popping in the DVD.

"Do you have any popcorn?" Niall asked.

"No," I answered, "but you can go get some in the guest shop."

"Come with me." Niall said, getting up.

"Why should I have to go too?" I whined.

"Cause you don't have popcorn!" He told me.

"And that's my fault?" I asked

"Duh," He replied, "Now come on!"

I whined and then got up and followed him. As soon as the elevator doors opened, our lungs were filled with smoke. We walked through the casino to the guest shop, next to the check in counter.

"The popcorn is over there," I pointed.

"Thanks Captain Obvious!" Niall mocked.

I laughed until I happen to glance behind me. There he was. Him and his brother. This wasn't happening. This couldn't be happening.

"Thanks Captain Obvious!" I teased Tyler as I walked over to the popcorn. As soon as I turned around I smacked myself in the head. How stupid could I be? I shouldn't have even invited myself over. I was starting to like her more and more. Harry would have a fit. And I saw the way she reacted to the question when we played Truth or Dare a few months back. She was hurt. While she's been traveling, I've been making up excuses to follow them around. We've gotten really close, but hit the wrong subject and she won't let me in. She won't talk about it. Like she's afraid. I paid for the package of popcorn packets and turned around to see Tyler staring at something. She looked really scared. I followed her eyes and saw she was staring at a guy. He wasn't very tall, but he looked pretty strong. He had dark hair and dark eyes. When he saw Tyler, he smiled and waved. But she stayed frozen.

"You ok?" I asked her. She reached down and grabbed my hand.

"Can we go?" Her voice shook as she looked back up at me. She was afraid.

"Yeah," I squeezed her hand, and led her back to the elevator. She kept her head down the whole time. I turned my head around to see the guy glaring at her.

"Are we almost there?" I asked Chris. My brother was taking me to Vegas this weekend for my birthday.

"Calm down," he reassured me, getting off the freeway, "We'll be there in ten."

Sure enough, we were at the hotel. We lugged our suitcases out of the car and walked into the hotel. We walked through the casino to the check in counter. My brother started giving him all the information. I turned my head to see a familiar face in the guest shop.

She was already staring. Looking at me like I was Satan or something. I laughed to myself and waved to her. I was so tempted to go over there, but if my brother saw her, he would have taken me away immediately. It's not my fault she doesn't like me anymore. Of course I had heard that her brother turned out to be famous and that she was going to have everything handed down to her. She'd like that. She's such a snob.

A blond guy came up behind her, and she grabbed his hand.

So much for not dating until after high school. Liar. They started walking away, but I kept my eyes on them. She's such a slut! Did she not learn the last time? Well wait until he finds out that she's not so innocent. She hurt me, so I did what I had to do. Even trade.
