13. Avoiding Problems

I fell back on the bed and rewinded. Last night was ...interesting to say the least. I held the note in my hand and fidgeted with the paper.

"What are we going to do about Harry?" Niall had asked as we sat on the sofa. I had my right arm linked with his left arm as my head rested on his left shoulder.

"We don't have to decide now," I had suggested, "Let's not worry about it now. Right now, we should enjoy each other's company."

"Enjoy each other's company?" Niall questioned, "Is that what you call this?"

"Oh shut up!" I giggled. He had chuckled with me and kissed my forehead.

I looked down at the paper. Silly me. Making me save this for later. I picked up my cell phone and began to dial Niall's number.

"Ty?" A voice said from the other side of the door. "Can I come in?"

"One second!" I replied. I grabbed the note and stashed it in my pillow case, "Ok, come in!"

Jessie came in quietly and shut the door behind her. She had on gray sweatpants and an oversized Ford T-shirt. Her dark hair was thrown into a messy bun and her makeup was gone. She walked over to me and sat on the edge of my bed.

"Did you have fun last night?" I asked.

"Yeah." She said quietly, she was looking in another direction.

"Jess, what's wrong?" I asked her.

She looked at me and hesitated.

"Maybe I can help?" I offered.

"You can't," she said, "Last night, we went out for dinner, and Liam came too. Well, after dinner, we were going to ride the New York New York roller coaster. I was afraid of heights so I decided to just wait for them. Liam volunteered to stay with me," she paused and looked at me with sad eyes, "He kissed me, Tyler. And he was drunk. I could taste it. He acted totally fine until then."

"Isn't he still with Sophia?" I asked.

"Yeah," she said, "I got up and asked what the hell that was about and he just stared at me for a few seconds. And then his eyes got wide and he left."

"I'm so sorry," I went over to her and hugged her.

"Oh it's fine," she told me, "He probably won't remember it anyways. Anyway, how was your movie night with Niall?" She winked.

"Uh," I paused, "It was interesting."

"What happened?" Jessie questioned.

"We ran into a guy who I used to know! And it was weird!" I told her. I wasn't ready to tell anyone what happened last night. But what I told her wasn't a lie.

"Oh," She stated, "Well, I was hoping for a better story than that!"

"Sorry," I jokingly apologized.

She smiled and got off the bed, "I'm gonna order some breakfast from room service. I don't want to go out. Want anything?"

"No, I'm fine!" I replied.

She nodded and started to leave, but came back in a moment later, "Niall left his phone here." She told me and tossed me his phone.

"Ok," I said, "I'll just go give it to him. I'm going there anyways."

Looks like I can't call him. I showered and got ready for the day. I decided to wear a transparent light blue long sleeved shirt with a white tank-top underneath. I put on a pair of dark denim jeans and black flats. I put on foundation, a bit of eye shadow and mascara. I grabbed both Niall's and my phones and headed out and down the hall. I knocked at his door and waited.

Soon, Niall opened it. He was still in shorts and an old t-shirt. His hair was sticking up in all directions. He didn't look very happy to see me.

"Uh, you forgot your phone," I handed it over to him.

He took it and nodded.

"Is it a bad time?" I asked, clearly receiving the unwelcome, "I can just call you later."

"Well," Niall spoke quietly, "It's just that-

"Niall, whose at the door?" A deep scratchy voice asked. Soon Harry appeared behind Niall, "Hey Tyler!" He smiled widely. He squeezed past Niall and gave me a hug.

"I thought you were with your mom?" I asked. Not that I wasn't glad he was here, but it took me by surprise.

"I wanted to come see your show!" He told me, "So I came over, but I wanted to keep it a secret."

"So you're sharing a suite with Niall?" I let go of the hug and smiled at him.

"Yep!" He confirmed.

"Well that makes sense." I stated, looking directly behind Harry at Niall. Niall nodded and I looked back toward Harry.

"Well, I'm actually going out to breakfast with Stephanie." Harry said, grabbing his wallet and phone from inside.

"Stephanie?" I asked as I entered the suite.

"Yeah, she's a friend from England who's down to see you guys." Harry said, "She knows Jessie and Lizzie."

I nodded. Harry said goodbye and walked out the door, leaving Niall and I alone.

"So that's why you wanted me to call." I said.

Niall just nodded.

"What's up with you?" I asked him, "You don't really seem very happy."

"I've just been thinking about what to do about this whole situation with Harry," he explained, "I can't see any possibility that it all ends up ok." He sat down on the couch and ran his hand through his hair. I felt my hands start to shake as they do when I'm nervous. I knew something bad was coming. The smart thing to do would have been to suggest we talk about it later and leave. But I didn't do that.

"So what do we do?" I asked quietly. I kept where I was, just incase it did end bad.

"No idea." Niall sighed. We were silent for a moment before Niall spoke again, "I can't loose Harry. If I loose him, I loose the band."

I nodded. I held my hands together behind my back.

"We couldn't do that to him," Niall spoke quietly, "Maybe we should just stop talking for a while."

I nodded, but stopped.

"Wait, what?" I questioned, "Why do we have to stop talking?"

"Well won't that be easier?" Niall asked.

"No," I answered, "That would mean I would loose you completely."

"But if we didn't talk to each other, it'd be easier to move on." Niall told me. My heart felt like it was about to sink.

"So you don't think we should give this a try ever?" I asked.

"There wouldn't be a way." Niall said.

Boom. Heart sank. I felt tears rising, but I pushed them down. I had only cried in front of one person and I was sure not to let him see me again.

"Bye Niall." I simply said, and then walked out the door, shutting it quietly behind me. I wasn't the kind of person to get violent when I was upset. Instead, I walked back into my room, praying that Niall would just swoop back out and tell me this was some sick joke. He didn't. I walked straight into my suite and shut the door behind me. And I didn't come out until two days later.
