16. Chapter Sixteen

The lazy day had passed by too quickly, I awoke early Monday morning not feeling the least bit relaxed. I rolled out of bed and combed through my hair. I changed into whatever I could grab first. I brushed my teeth and walked to school. The closer I got to the brick building, the more stress I began to feel seep in.

As I grabbed my books from my locker, I felt somebody staring holes into my back. I turned to see the blonde girl from the bonfire, the one who had drove, it was Carly.  She looked away as she knew she had been caught. I sighed and shut my locker, swinging my bag over my shoulder, and making my way to homeroom. I heard loud and sloppy footsteps behind me. I felt a man's arms wrap themselves around me. I craned my neck back to see Wesley, and his abnormally large grin.

     "Hey." he smiled.

"Well hello." I said, my voice waved and almost laughing.

He pressed his lips to my forehead and planted a kiss in the middle of it.

"How was your Sunday?" He asked in a playful way.

     "Relaxing." I replied.

He swayed me in his arms. We stood in the middle of the hall causing the other students to have to maneuver around us, Wesley didn't seem to care or notice. He continued to smile down at me as if we were the only to there.

He walked me to homeroom, holding my hand tight in his. He pecked my lips before I entered the room.

I tried to avoid Keaton in period 4, but it was inevitable. He looked over to me and slid his desk closer to mine.

     "Psst." He whispered.

I pretended not to hear him.

"Psst!" He said in a harsh whisper.

I couldn't ignore that one, I looked over to him. "What?"

"So, like, are you and Wesley, like a thing now or?" His voice trailed off as I looked to his eyes.

I shrugged my shoulders and looked back down to my work."Yeah." I said softly.

Keaton nodded his head slowly as if he was showing that he understood. "Oh."  was all he replied.

I nodded. "How are you and Sabrina?"

Keaton shrugged. He didn't smile like he use to whenever her name was said, no, he only shrugged. "It's going pretty good, we are actually going bowling tonight."

I nodded and kept my eyes down to my work, but I still listened to him.

"It's odd though," Keaton began as he sat his back against his seat again, "I always thought he and Carly had a thing." He spoke more confidently and shook his head a bit. "But whatever. I guess it was more of a 'friends-with-benefits kind of thing." He tapped his pencil against his desk, drumming a beat as he started on his assignment.

I let it linger in my thoughts before the realization hit me. What Keaton had said must be true because, because she was staring at me, she gave me a dirty look because she is jealous of me and Wesley. Carly likes Wesley, and I stole him from her.

The bell rang and I gathered my things, walking out of the classroom. I walked down the hall, and caught Carly's glare again. I shook my head and walked faster. I prayed that this was the worst it would be, dirty looks form the distance, but something told me that the California girls were nothing like the ones from Rhode Island, I knew it was only a matter of time before I caught myself in another tight spot. Things with her and Wesley must have had been going really smoothly. But then I moved in and ruined everything for Carly.

By the time the school day ended, my heart was at its fastest pace. Stress had made my heart rate rise. I fucking hate stress, and drama.
