It's Kind of a Coincidence

Bella had a kidney transplant when she was sixteen years old. Two years later, she is able to meet her donor, even if she doesn't really want to. Her donor is Tregory Jones. What Bella wasn't counting on was for him to be a beautiful, just out of his teens, boy with the personality of a god.

14. The Will thing.

"Bella?"  Jess calls knocking on my door at eleven pm that night. "You haven't been down all night, what's wrong?"

My initial thought is to blank her but seeing as I am still sobbing and my eyes are starting to hurt and Jessica has been heartbroken so many times. She's my big sister, this is what she's meant for. So I open the door to her and she sighs, genuinely sympathetic for once.

"Baby." she frowns, pulling me into a hug. "What happened?"

I sob even more so she pulls me over to my bed and we cuddle up under the quilt like we used to when we were four and six, sick. I cry on her shoulder, getting makeup on her brand new sweater but she doesn't care. She just strokes my hair out of the way and hushes me.

"He cheated on me." I manage to say, finally stopping the sobs. "With some girl at his college."

"Oh my god." she mutters. "I am so sorry, Bella, you don't deserve this at all."

I sniff. "I feel so pathetic."

"You shouldn't." she says angrily. "I'll be back in an hour."

"What?" I protest. "I thought you were being nice!"

"Oh I am." she says and I hear the front door shut.

There's a knock on the door the next morning, waking me up. I have to blink a couple of times to get my eyes working properly and I have a really bad headache. Must be all the crying.

"Trey is here to see you!" mom says excitedly. She obviously didn't get the memo.

"I don't care." I say bluntly.

"I told him you were sleeping but he really wants to speak with you."

I groan and go downstairs and he stands at the door, awkwardly. Well that's a lie. I wish he was stood awkwardly. He's just standing there, looking beautiful as always. It makes me want to hit him all over again.

"Your sister TP'd my house." he says, bluntly.

I laugh then realise he's not best pleased. I change my expression. "Uh, I mean, I'm sorry about that, I'll have a word with her."

"Yeah." he says. "Why would she do it?"

"Because you messed me around." I sigh. I wish it was like talking to a stranger but we both still know each other all too well.

"Where the hell did you hear this?" he asks. "I never cheated on you! I've never been anything but honest to you, Bella."

"I heard it from your girlfriend."

"Yourself?" he raises an eyebrow. "Because you are the only girlfriend."

"No, the cute brunette one."

"I don't know a cute brunette!" he exclaims. "This is what I'm saying!"

"You know I want to believe you!" I exclaim back. "But unless you can prove it-"

"I know you're broken, okay?" he says, in a hushed tone all of a sudden, his eyes filled with care. "I know guys have treated you like absolute crap and I know that has broken you, so I get that you don't trust what I'm saying. I don't know what some random girl said to you, but it's not true. I love you and I just want to be with you. So I will find my proof and I will give you all the time it needs for you to believe me. As long as it happens one day."

I sigh, nodding. He just gives me a forlorn nod and walks away. I think he was expecting me to take that as enough and forgive him, but I don't even believe him. Not in the slightest. I still believe he cheated me and I'm still mad at him and to be honest, that little speech just seemed like some cover up.

Days pass and as they do, I feel sadder. So I invite Will over (the lanky blonde one) because he's the only one on his lunch break. I like him, in a friendly way. He's cool. We chat about music for a long time and he makes me laugh a lot.  I seem to make him laugh too. It's just nice and calm.

I think the happiness and the sadness and the loneliness all catches up with me at once and I just lean over and kiss Will. It's a sad kiss, the type of kiss that is asking for support. We both pull away and look at each other confused for a moment.

"I'm sorry." I say, kissing him again.

"It's okay." he says and kisses me again.

It isn't even a romantic sort of kiss and we both know it. There's no chemistry and there isn't meant to be. It's just a friendly kiss, because I'm going through stuff and he probably is too. It's kind of like a handshake on another level.

It must not look like that to Trey when he walks in. I'm sure of this as he bursts into the room, brings Will to his feet by his shirt, only to knock him to the floor with a huge punch a second after.

"Trey!" I shout, as he swings again, but I pull him away in time.

"Get me out of this room before I beat him to death." Trey growls.

"Will I think you should go." I say.

"Me too. See you later." he says casually and walking out.

"He had better not see you later." Trey glares at the door.

"Dude!" I raise my eyebrows. "Chill!"

"Chill? You're kidding me. What the hell was going on?!"

I sigh. How do I explain this? "It was a friendly kiss!"

"Pfft." he scoffs. "A friendly kiss. Sure. Okay, call me when you figure it out."
