It's Kind of a Coincidence

Bella had a kidney transplant when she was sixteen years old. Two years later, she is able to meet her donor, even if she doesn't really want to. Her donor is Tregory Jones. What Bella wasn't counting on was for him to be a beautiful, just out of his teens, boy with the personality of a god.

4. The slap thing.

"Do you still want to come back to mine for dinner?" I ask him as it starts to get dark. "You really don't have to. I mean, I would hate for you to have to sit with my hot sister while she flirts with you."

It sounds like I'm being sarcastic so he laughs but I am being dead serious. "No, I'd love to."

So we go back to my house and sit down at the dinner table. There sits Jessica, my beautiful red headed sister with perfect makeup and skinny but toned figure that somehow doesn't take anything away.

"Hello Tregory!" my mom grins, setting down the lasagne and also taking her seat.

My sister looks up from her phone, disinterested until she sees Trey. Her eyes light up. "Hello, Tregory!" she says with delight.

"Jess." I kick her under the table. "Stop."

"Mom, she's abusing me again!"

"Bella, stop abusing your sister!"

"I'm not!"

Trey just looks around with an amused look in his eyes, laughing with us. I sigh. The things I would do to be back in his peaceful house with just us two. My family is an embarrassment to me, but he doesn't seem to care. I wish he would care and find them weird. It might take the edge off my sister a little bit.

"It's nice to meet you Jessica." he says politely.

"It's very nice to meet you too Tregory." she gives him that smile that is the reason she's no longer a virgin.

"Jess, please stop." I put my head in my hands. "Please, dear god." I give Trey an apologetic look. "I'm sorry, she really can't control herself."

"Don't start, Bellatrix." Jess quotes Harry Potter as if it's an insult.

"Please, I'd love to be a deatheater, I would get away with killing you-"

"I apologise for my daughters." my mother smiles at Tregory. I can see her mothering instincts kicking in. "They are always arguing over boys."

"Mom!" I protest. "No we're not! That's not what happens! What happens is I get a boyfriend and the only reason they ever dated me was to get to her-"

"Because I'm so much hotter than you."

"Shut up." I glare at her. "Or they do actually like me a little bit, but see how much better they could do with her!"

"Because you're some insane freak!" she yells. "You're always speaking and playing guitar and fighting and being sarcastic! You never shut up, you're just always there! Of course they'd prefer someone a bit quieter and more pleasant-"

I can tell somewhere in the back of my mind that we shouldn't be fighting because Tregory is here, but that's a blur behind my anger. She always thinks she's so much better than me and she doesn't know how much it hurts. She doesn't know how much I hate feeling different and weird and she's just picking up on that.

"What?!" I laugh, shocked. "More pleasant? Yes, sluts are so much more pleasant-"

"Just because you're going to die alone because nobody wants to marry some freak  of nature-"

I reach forward and slap her hard around the face. Everybody is silent and I can just see the shock on Trey's face and I know I've screwed it all up. I'd like to say I feel bad but that felt awesome.

"Should I go home?" he asks, quietly.

"Maybe that's best, dear." my mom smiles apologetically at him.

I get up and walk him to the door. I step outside with him for a minute so nobody can hear us talking. Now the embarrassment is setting in.

"I'm sorry-"

I'm interrupted by him laughing. He looks at me and laughs again, but I know he's not laughing at me. He's laughing with me. "Oh my god, Bella, okay I know I shouldn't laugh because it's your sister, but that was freaking amazing."

I frown, confused. "You don't think I'm weird?"

"Oh no, you are weird, but in the most amazing way." he finally stops laughing. "That slap... it was-"

"Pretty good." we both chorus and laugh weakly.

"Okay." he says, looking at the ground then back at me. "I should probably go, but can we hang out again tomorrow?"

"You seriously want to see me again?"

"I seriously do." he promises. "Why, don't you want to see me?"

I raise an eyebrow playfully. "Well, it depends if we can go to your house instead of mine."

He chuckles. "That sounds great. Please don't slap my dad though."

"Oh, shut up."

He catches me off guard by pulling me into a big hug. I know he's just seeing this as a normal gesture, but it means the world to me in this moment. On the surface it's just a friendly hug but I feel something a little bit more and I'm hoping he does too.
