It's Kind of a Coincidence

Bella had a kidney transplant when she was sixteen years old. Two years later, she is able to meet her donor, even if she doesn't really want to. Her donor is Tregory Jones. What Bella wasn't counting on was for him to be a beautiful, just out of his teens, boy with the personality of a god.

2. The mom incident.

"So." Tregory Jones says as we leave the diner. "What are you doing with the rest of your day?"

"Not much." I tell him while we walk along the street. "What about you?"

"Not much." he agrees. "How does the idea of us spending the rest of the day together sound?"

"Pretty good." I give him a knowing smile. "We just need to stop off at my house and let my mom know."

He grins back. "Awesome."

As we walk along, we chat about school and such things but my heart is beating like a drum. I mean, I'm still not huge on the idea of having this big committed friendship just because I have his kidney, but I was going in there thinking I would be spending the day with a weird middle aged man and instead I'm spending it with the most beautiful boy I've ever seen in my life.

I don't like him in a romantic way yet, but I really am on my way to it.

"Mom!" I yell as we walk in my house. "Tregory Jones is here!"

"Oh lovely!" I hear her shout back. She rushes into the hallway and stops dead. "Wow."

"What?" I ask.

"I thought Tregory Jones was old."

"So did I. There is more than one Tregory Jones. I mean, there's more than one Tregory, isn't that just a miracle?"

"Isn't it just!"

"Hello Mrs Tras." Tregory says holding a hand out for her to shake.

"Hello!" she says, her voice thick. I can see her eyes glisten as she shakes his hand and I roll my eyes. She gets emotional at the stupidest things. Giving up on the handshake, she pulls him into a massive bear hug. He looks at me over her shoulder chuckling as my mom tries to stop sobbing.

"Mrs Tras?" he asks, uncertainly but amused. "Are you okay?"

"I'm so happy to meet you." she breathes. "Thank you for everything you've done."

"Oh my god." I mutter. "My dear god."

"It's quite alright, Mrs Tras." he chuckles, trying to escape the hug but she pulls him closer.

"How are you coping?"

I frown in complete awe. How is he coping? "Mom!" I exclaim. "He's fine! He has the exact same amount of kidneys as I do."

"You didn't give yours up, sweetheart." she says back to me, finally leaving the hug.

"Oh, well, I do apologise." I say. "We're going out, I'll be gone for most of the day-"

"Does Tregory-"

"Please, Mrs Tras, call me Trey."

"Okay!" she beams. "Does Trey want to come back for dinner?"

I look at Trey, thinking "No. Say no. You'll see my hot sister and want her instead of me like every guy ever."

"I don't want to intrude-"

"No, no! I'd love for Bella's sister Jessica to meet you! You're about the same age!"

"Well, if that's okay." he smiles kindly.

So it's organised and I realise as we walk out of the door, that I may have been the one he gave his kidney to, but he's going to prefer my family to me. My mother mothers the hell out of him which every guy has to love and Jessica is like a freaking supermodel. Who am I? I'm just the sassy girl who's two years younger than him.

"I knew my mom always wanted a son." I tell him.

I expect him to just sort of nod a bit now that he knows how much better he could do with my family, but his face lights up and he full on laughs, nudging me. "Don't be stupid, I'm sure she's very happy with her two daughters."

"Yeah, sure she is. That's why she almost choked you with her love."

He laughs again and I can't really believe my luck. "It was nice. I live with my dad, my mom never wanted to know me. You're lucky to have yours."

I nod. "I guess I am. Even if she sets me up on crazy blind dates with kidney donors."

He laughs again. "Hey, it's kind of humid out. Do you wanna go back to my place and listen to music for a bit?"

"Sounds pretty good." I grin and we walk along.
