It's Kind of a Coincidence

Bella had a kidney transplant when she was sixteen years old. Two years later, she is able to meet her donor, even if she doesn't really want to. Her donor is Tregory Jones. What Bella wasn't counting on was for him to be a beautiful, just out of his teens, boy with the personality of a god.

1. The intro.

When I was sixteen years old, I suffered Hypertension and had to have a kidney transplant. I'm eighteen now and I'm fine. We caught it before it got too serious, had an operation leaving my donor with one kidney and me with his other one. That was that. I was never one of those kids that came close to death and I'm still not. I'm a lucky one.

I could never meet my donor because there's a load of different stupid laws, but his name is Tregory Jones. Tregory, I kid you not. So I have looked him up on the internet because how many Tregorys can there be in this world? He is an old man with grey hair and a big beer belly. I'm not sure how he gets by on one kidney, but you know, I'm grateful, obviously.

"Bella!" my mom runs in, a massive grin on her face.

My father passed away before I could even be born. My older sister Jessica knew him for a year, but even she can't remember him very well. Anyway, my mom is brave never the less, I've never seen her cry about it. I have only lived with her and my sister for all of my life which has been... girly.

I'm not the girly one. I'm the sort of sarcastic one who dresses in black and white a lot and listens to loud music. I'm also a little bit messed up in the head. Not in a serious way, just I'm very outspoken and chatty and I'm fidgety. I guess it's a bit ADHD.

"Mom!" I exclaim back, putting my guitar down.

"It's been two years!" she squeals.

"Since what?"

"YOUR OPERATION!" she almost shouts.

"I'm not meeting Tregory Jones." I say bluntly, knowing what she's going to suggest.

"Why?" she groans. I know it annoys her how girly and excited she and my sister are and how blunt I am. "You could have a really special relationship!"

"I looked him up!" I protest. "He's some old guy! How would I ever become friends and relate to that guy? Plus, it'd be a big bond. I'm a simple person. I don't like new, big, exciting things in my life that I have to commit to."

"Well, it's too late." she says, defiantly, crossing her arms. "He moved here to New York City about a month ago and I contacted him this morning and he wants to meet you! I organised it already, you're going for coffee in that cute little diner around the block."

"Mom!" I shout. "How could you?!"

She smiles smugly. "Well unless you can think of an excuse, you're meeting him there in an hour."

"We could tell him I had kidney failure." I laugh but stop when I see the look on my mom's face. "Okay, sorry, that was inappropriate."

"Yes it was."

"But funny."

"No." she says. "Go get ready."

I groan and go to my closet. I pick out my favourite dress because why not. It's lilac with wooden style buttons and comes down to just above my knee. I pair it with some black boots just so it's not too girly, tie my excuse for blonde hair in a poor excuse for a braid and head out.

"Have fun!" my mom shouts after me.

"With a guy called Tregory?" I question. "Sure, why not."

I get to the diner and walk in. I don't feel nervous, I just feel... bored. I can just see how boring and awkward this is going to be. What will we possibly talk about? I'm not saying I'm not grateful for him giving me his other kidney or anything, because I am, really. It's just... why do we have to have a relationship through it?

"Hey." I hear a voice say. "Are you Bella?"

I frown and turn around to one of the booth tables. There sits, possibly one of the most beautiful boys I've ever seen. He's blonde and well built with that styled hair that's up but not spiked and kind of impossible for a girl to describe. He has the jawline of a god and probably the most beautiful lips I have ever seen.

"Yes." I say, unsurely. I stand there awkward. All of a sudden, my hair seems too messy and my figure seems to skinny and my boobs seem too small to me. "You are?"

"Tregory Jones." he smiles.

"Shut the front door." I say, sitting down across from him. I take a minute to just look at him and take in his beauty and try and handle my confusion. "Are you sure?"

"Yes." he frowns but smiles. "Why wouldn't I be?"

"I looked you up!" I tell him. "You're like sixty."

"Nope." he chuckles. "Twenty."

"What?!" I demand. "Sorry, I just thought... well how many Tregorys can there be in this world?"

"Apparently two."

"Apparently."

"I get called Trey though." he says.

I nod. "Okay. Well. Hello."

"Hello." he says. "It's really great to meet you."

"Yeah, why did you want to meet me?" I lean forward.

He shrugs. "Curiosity. I gave you my kidney, I wanna know how it's keeping up."

I can see his has some sass in him. Good kid. "It's keeping up pretty good." I nod.

"I'm glad." he grins. "So, how's school?"

"Just left." I grin back. "How's whatever you do?"

"I study psychology at college." He nods. "It's pretty good. Do you wanna go to college?"

"Yeah it sounds pretty good."

"We say things are pretty good a lot." he points out.

"We do." I agree.

He grins. "I guess we have a thing."

"Other than our kidneys are from the same body."

"Yes, other than that."
