It's Kind of a Coincidence

Bella had a kidney transplant when she was sixteen years old. Two years later, she is able to meet her donor, even if she doesn't really want to. Her donor is Tregory Jones. What Bella wasn't counting on was for him to be a beautiful, just out of his teens, boy with the personality of a god.

8. The friend thing.

I am not regretting going out at four in the morning with Trey but I am freaking exhausted. I fall asleep at the breakfast table that morning when my sister shakes my shoulder, waking me up. I yelp and almost fall face first into my cereal, but she's just grinning at me. We've gotten over the big argument now and we're back to our usual bickering but it's friendly again. Ish.

"Tregory is at the door." she grins, shaking me. "I answered it. He looks beautiful."

I groan, still half asleep and follow her to the door. She gives him a smile as she saunters up the stairs. I stand there behind her with my hair a mess and my eyes half closed. I wake up a little bit when I see Trey smile at me though.

"Hey!" I say.

He grins and pulls out a bunch of flowers from behind his back. "Good morning."

"Aww!" I smile, taking them from him. "Thank you! What brought this on?"

"It's to say sorry for your fatigue I am sure you're experiencing right now." he smiles.

"Thank you." I repeat again.

I really want to kiss him right now but I don't know if it's really wanted on his side. We're both just smiling at each other for a moment and I can feel the tension and anxiety building in my chest but it's over before it begins because steps inside the house and kisses me. I lean against the door frame and smile, kissing him back as his arm rests above my head. It's different to yesterday's kiss, it's more gentle and peaceful this morning which is nice.

I hear a throat being cleared on the stairs. We both sigh, pulling away and Jess stands there, smiling at us. "Okay, Trey, I may think you're hot but there are limits and you are two years older than my baby sister so-"

"Jess." I shake my head, humiliated. "No."

"I'm just saying!" she grins at us both, walking out of the door, shaking her head.

"I'm sorry." I say, apologetically.

"Don't worry about it." Trey smiles, kissing me again, quickly. "I'd better go to college."

"Okay." I smile. "Thank you for the flowers."

"Anytime." he grins as he starts walking away. "Day together on Saturday?"

I close the door, rush upstairs and lean against the wall. I bite my lip happily, just remembering. I love everything about him. I love that he came to me on the way to school to give me flowers. I love that he randomly took me out to see the New York lights. I love that he didn't waste time to tell me he liked me and that he saved me the torture of wondering. I love that his room is tidy. I love his sense of humour. I love that he has that slight touch of hilarious bitterness. I love the fact that we have debates sometimes and he's not afraid to argue back. I love the fact that he's not too cutesy but still has his moments. I love that I know his voice, I know how it changes and why. I love the fact that his lips are starting to feel familiar to me. I love the fact that his eyes are hazel usually but when he's happy or excited, the slightest amount of green shows through.

"DUDE, SHE IS HOT." is the first thing I hear when I pick up the phone to Trey.

"What?" I ask, unsurely.

"Sorry." I hear his voice finally. "My friends are such guys. They saw your caller ID and now they're dying."

"Oh." I frown. "Thanks guys?"

I hear hollers and woops from his friends and laugh. A new voice enters my ear. "Okay, whenever you're done with Trey, I am totally available right now."

I laugh, happily. "Okay, well, I'll keep that in mind."

"Dude, I stole your bitch!" the voice says, fading and Trey comes back to the phone.

"I am sorry." he says. "I didn't know I was friends with such perverts!" he shouts the last word and I'm guessing it's directed to his friends.

"It's fine, they seem fun." I grin. Something about the banter between guys has always amused me.

"Woah." he says. "Don't get carried away with them. When I say that, I mean it literally, they will seriously carry you away and take you to their weird little man cave that I'm sure they own."

"The only person we carry away to our man cave is you, Tregory." I hear one of his friends say.

"Anyway." Trey laughs. "I was calling to have a chat, but now they wasted our time and I have to go back to lesson. I'll call you later, yeah?"

"Sounds good." I tell him.

"Can I call you later Bella?" one of his friends says.

"Of course." I laugh.

And the line goes dead and I just lie there, feeling on top of the world.
