It's Kind of a Coincidence

Bella had a kidney transplant when she was sixteen years old. Two years later, she is able to meet her donor, even if she doesn't really want to. Her donor is Tregory Jones. What Bella wasn't counting on was for him to be a beautiful, just out of his teens, boy with the personality of a god.

15. The actual truth.

There's a knock on the door about twenty minutes later. The cute brunette girl, Lola, stands at the door. Her eyes are red and I sigh. She's been feeling like I have for the last few days.

"Lola." I say, sympathetically. "Come in-"

"No." she shakes her head. "No, that's okay. I just wanted to admit something."

I frown, the ideas already coming into my head. "What?"

"Trey and I never dated." she says. "I'm sorry, it's just I've liked him for so long and it killed me to know he doesn't know I exist and then you went out with him and I just-"

"It's okay." I stop her. I want to feel angry but I can't. I just feel relieved that he never cheated on me. "It's fine."

"No, it's not-"

"Yes it is, Lola. Don't worry. Just forget anything ever happened."

She frowns and nods and begins to walk away. She pauses half way and turns around.

"You're a good person, Bella." she says. "Better than you'd know."

I don't think I am a bad person, but I don't think this is what makes me a good person. There's no point in holding grudges in life. Somebody does something and you just have to let it go because what will holding onto it gain?

I want to rush to Trey straight away, but I can't yet. I know exactly when I have to.

So at four am, I sneak out of the house and walk over to the top floor of the multistory car park. Sure enough, Trey sits there, looking out at the skyline, waiting for the lights to come on.

"Mind if I join you?" I ask.

He doesn't even look around. "Did you realise I was telling the truth?"

"Yes." I sigh. "But I get if you hate me-"

He interrupts me by laughing. I frown, but start laughing too. He turns around and he is completely fine, his eyes are bright with little specks of green and he stands up, pulling me into a massive hug.

"I love you." he whispers. "I don't know what the hell happened, but let's just forget about it."

"That sounds like the best idea." I whisper.

Our lips almost touch when all of a sudden, there's a light, then another, then another and the city has woken up. We both laugh, happily and kiss and it's like coming home.
