Fallen Love

Now I understand why it's called "falling in love". 'Cause everything that falls, gets broken.

17. Chapter 17

Addie's POV~

Dear Addie,

I couldn't think of any other way to say this. I don't want to break your heart. I just feel like we haven't been able to talk as much as we want to, and this long distance relationship isn't working. You are an amazing girl, but I think we should see other people. Someone who we have time for and can spend time with. I promise I won't forget about you, I mean how could I when you were my source of happiness for so long? And I hope you won't forget about me. I am so sorry Addie, please forgive me. I wish you the best of luck in life, and hopefully we can see eachother again.

Yours Truly,

Niall Horan

Is this some kind of joke?

Did Niall just break up with me over a letter? No, this can't be right.

I thought he would at least do it in person, but I guess I was wrong.

Maybe I was wrong about him.

He wants me to forgive him, but how could I after this?!

I crumpled up the peice of paper and ran up to my room as fast as I could. I opened the drawer on my nightstand, and stuck the letter at the bottom of it.

I don't even know why I kept the letter. Maybe so that if we saw eachother again, I could show him how much it hurt me.

It was only five in the afternoon, but all I wanted to do was go to sleep. Sleep so I could forget about the letter, and all the memories.

I put on a pair of shorts and an old shirt and crawled into bed. I pulled the covers over me, and stuck my head in the pillow.

I felt a tear on my pillow, and I just couldn't take it anymore. I cried and cried and cried, trying my hardest to cry the memories out.

That night, I fell asleep, drowning myself in my tears.

When I woke up, there were tear stains on my pillow, still damp from all the crying the night before.

I walked into the bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror. My eyes were red and puffy, easily noticeable that I was crying. I looked like crap, and my hair was all over the place.

I could hear my ringer go off, so I marched into my bedroom looking for my phone. I noticed it sitting on the nightstand, so I walked over and checked the caller ID.

Emmy. You have no idea how much I have missed that girl. It's just not the same without her.

I picked up my cellphone and hit the 'answer' button. The sound was quickly filled with the cheery voice of my bestfriend.

E- Adeline!

A- Emylyn!

I giggled at her use of my full name.

E- I have missed you so much! We need to have lunch or something soon!

A- I agree! Maybe we ---

I was cutoff by Emmy's voice in the phone.

E- Lucky for you, I'm in London for a couple days!

A- What?! Really? Omg, you should have started with that! Let's go to lunch! Is today okay?

E- That's perfect! Where should we meet?

A- Ooh, I know this cute little café downtown! I'll text you the address and we can meet there for a while! Sounds good?

E- Yes! Okay, just text me and I will see you there! Bye for now love!

A- Alright, bye babycakes! See you soon.

And with that, I hung up and opened up my messages.

I sent a quick text to Emmy with the address, and then scrummaged through my drawers for something to wear. I wanted to look a little decent for lunch.

I decided on light denim high waisted shorts, with a pink v-neck shirt. I slid my Vans on and walked into the bathroom to fix my hair and makeup.

I went light on the makeup with only mascara and blush. I straightened my hair and slid a headband on.

I grabbed my phone off my bed and went into the kitchen. I found my keys on the kitchen counter, so I grabbed them and walked out the door, shutting and locking it behind me.

When I pulled up to the small café, I noticed the parking lot was almost empty. There were only a couple cars, so I found a parking space and walked inside.

I was immediately greeted by Emmy, who gave me a long hug. I missed her hugs. I simply missed her.

We sat down at a table and ordered our drinks. As soon as the waitress left, Emmy grabbed my hand and began talking.

"Okay. First thing's first. How are you and Niall?" I think Emmy could sense my sadness since my smile disappeared quite quickly as soon as that question left her mouth.

I could fell a tear forming, so I took a deep breath and held it in. Emmy had a blank stare on her face, waiting for my answer.

"I- I think we broke up." I began, stuttering as I relived the moment when I opened that letter.

"What? Why!?" Emmy's hand was still on mine, gripping it tighter and tighter. I knew she was eager to know what caused Niall and I to split, so I might as well tell her.

"Well, I came home from work, and got the mail like usual. I found a letter in it from Niall, and it said that he thought it wasn't working out so we should break up. And that was it. So I guess we're over."

By this time, tears were running down my cheeks as I wiped them away with my free hand. My vision was blurry, but when it came into focus, I saw Emmy with pity in her eyes.

Great, this is exactly what I need right now. Pity. Can you sense the sarcasm?

"Addie baby, I'm so sorry. That loser doesn't know what he's missing." Emmy's comment made me giggle which made me feel better.

The waitress came back with our food, and we looked like voulchers devouring prey. I'm not even lying.

After we got our food, I made conversation.

"How are you and Harry?" Emmy's face lit up, so I knew everything was good between them.

At least she's happy with someone. But what do I get?

I fricken note saying we should break up and to have a nice life. I don't even know what to say.

"We're great actually! I think I'm gonna surprise him before I have to go back home. I miss all of you guys! I feel like I should just move out here!" The idea of Emmy moving by me made my heart beat ten times faster.

"You could live with me and my parents! We have an extra bedroom!" I squealed quietly as we discussed the idea of Emmy moving to London with me.

After another 20 minutes of chatting, Emmy said she had to leave.

"I gotta go surprise Harry now! Sorry it was so quick, but I hope I can move in with you! Text me! Bye for now lovely." She gave a hug and small wink as she got in her car to find Harry.

I sighed at the thought of spending another day alone as I found my parking space. I started the ignition and began to drive back home.

I was happy for Emmy and Harry, but jealous because I no longer had a relationship like that. The more I thought about the relationship and the memories, the more I missed Niall.

No, Addie. Don't do this.

He broke your heart.

Don't think you miss him, because you don't.

Forget about him.

My mind was filled with thoughts as I pulled into my driveway. I dug through my purse to find my keys, only to throw the keys right back in after unlocking the door.

After getting a glass of water and gulping that down, I looked through my purse once again to find my phone.

I unlocked it and opened the app for Twitter.

My feed was full with other people's tweets about their life and whatever else they felt like they needed to share with the world. Um, I honestly don't care.

I was scrolling through when something caught my eye.

Woah, calm down.

Well this is just fantastic.

Of course he has to be in the same place as me.

Why is he even here?

Probably just a vacation or something.

Ugh. I hope I don't see him or I might explode.

You're lying to yourself. You want to see him.

My conscience filled my thoughts as I tried to clear my head.

No. I don't want to see him. At all.

I decided I needed another coffee, even though I just had one at the café.

What can I say? I just love the taste of it.

I decided on walking to Starbuck's since it's only a few blocks from my home.

I grabbed my phone and purse and headed at the door, locking it behind me.

It was a little breezy outside and I forgot a jacket, so I just hugged my arms and hurried to Starbuck's.

I ordered a mocha frappachino as I found a small table to sit at.

I looked around, scanning the coffee shop for anyone that I would know.

Everyone was on their laptops or cell phones, sipping their coffee as their eyes were glued to the screen in front of them.

Some people were chatting away, their voices filling the silence.

I took a sip of my coffee as I looked out the big glass window in front of me.

There was quite a large crowd gathered outside, screams coming from what sounded like teenage girls.

Being the curious person I am, I picked up my purse and coffee and casually walked out the front door.

I followed the crowd of people to see what everyone was looking at.

I made my way to the front before looking up and stopping dead in my tracks.

In front of me stood the blonde-haired boy I fell in love with, his blue eyes on mine.

When I looked away I noticed his fingers intertwined with a brown-haired girl, a girl that wasn't me.
