3. Late Night

I fell asleep on the way to where ever we were going, listening to an old Jason Aldean cd. When I woke up, were pulling up to an crappy cobblestone motel. I tried to peek and see if someone else is actually checked in, but from what I could see there was cobwebs covering most of the windows, that gave me a clue.

“What are we doing here,” I said in an unconscious like voice.

He replied with a joke,  “You said we were going to hell one day, so here we are.” He laughed at his joke, still examining the motel we were parked in front up.

I matched my playful side with his, “This isn’t hell. This is, hell no, i’m not gonna take my girlfriend to this dump!” He smiled sarcastically and shook his head.

“NNO” He replied quickly, in a five year old’s voice.

“What?! that was funny,” I thought smart, we got out of the car and I added, “-As hell!”

He walked in a booger green garage looking building that had a sign that read: ‘ late night motel .. main office here ’ in bold neon lights.

I propped myself up on the hood and laid my head back on the windshield, I looked at the shining stars above and absorbed the quiet and darkness the night held. I replayed the fight over and over again, then the moment in the bathroom with Mickey. It was so weird, if I didn’t know any better i’d say he was freaked out or even scared, he was anything but Mickey. I mean yeah, he can be serious, but never that serious.

“What is up with him?”  I quietly questioned myself.

I had an idea what, but a guy’s voice broke my thought and I lost it. I realized it wasn’t tweety’s, so I sat up and looked around. All I saw was the neon light from the sign on the door Mickey walked through. Who’s was it?

I played cool and convinced myself it was nothing. I heard the muted sounds of breathing that wasn’t  mine, which reassured me I wasn’t alone in the dark. I pulled myself down from the hood and acted like I was going inside to be by Mickey. I quickly turned around and made my way through the still night. where did you go?

I had a feeling I was driving myself crazy with anticipation to find out what Mickey’s deal is, but I still knew this night held more stranger than just me. I heard three different footsteps not so far behind me, I tried to act like I didn’t though.

I know what to do here..

I slowly bent over and fixed my boots that Mickey threw in the car before we took off earlier. To tell the truth I had a feeling who ever it was behind me were guys and I know how to distract whoever, whenever, and wherever, especially guys.

“Nice,” said the same voice I heard before, this meant trouble.

I felt their heat, their energy, their rage, I knew this wasn’t  just  trouble, this was a whole new level of trouble. I went to pull my switch blade on them, which was just right in my back pocket, but before I could I heard the cock of a gun and then felt a cool piece of metal to the back of my head. It wasn’t the first time I was the target for anything, fists, knives, glass, guns, whatever.

Suddenly my body froze, my breathing stopped, my heart pounded, and time slowed. I was having a flash, they’re like slideshows but it’s more like having the near future flash before my eyes, someone’s faith, or it could be something someone’s gonna say or do.

All I saw was me at the police station talking to a detective, then me laughing with Carson while driving to Mickey’ house, after that it was like a huge party at Erick (my youngest stepbrother who is the same age as me and Mandy, my stepsister) and his roommates new house and the rest blurred up.

When I returned back to reality I didn’t know what happened, The guys were gone and Mickey was lying asleep next to me in the crapy room he got for just sixty-five dollars a night, at least I guessed.

His shirt was on the ground next to the door, for some reason he always sleep shirtless with a pear of jeans, it always seemed weird to me but it was very good look for him.

I thought about what happened and remembered I had a flash but I couldn’t remember what it meant or even what it was. I slowly rubbed his back, which was faced my way, to see if he was awake.

“Mickey?” I chanted in a sleepy whisper, about three times before he actually awoke.

“Hey,what’s wrong?” He questioned slowly as he turned on his side to where we were face-to-face.

“N-Nothing, what happened to those guys?”

“I took care of them,” he said while he starred in to my eyes.

“What are we doing here, what did you mean back there at the house?”

He looked at the spinning ceiling fan above us, “Something was holding me back when I went to get the knife, when I could move, you were already on the ground. I thought you were dead, but you said something. I couldn’t hear because everyone started yelling and calling the police.” I guessed he was referring to the fight.

“Why couldn’t you just say that in the first place? I mean, is she still alive, is she pressing charges, what?” He didn’t look at me but I knew it had something to do with witchcraft, just something we get, we called them vibes.

“You know how you can look at something and move them around, you can look in someones eyes and make them feel pain, or like you close your eyes and see something in your mind and then it’s like right in front of you when you open you eyes, you know those illusions you can do?”

Manifesting I said telepathically.

Yeah, whatever, well thats what happened. I saw that chick manifest the knife, no one else did. But then something else made me stop, I knew it wasn’t her, because only you and very few others can do it.

“Wait, you think theres another witch who wanted her to win?”  I questioned out of confusion.

No, I think theres another witch who wanted you dead.
