"Babe?" Harry’s sweet voice muffled through the door.

"Go away." I sobbed, burying my face in a pillow.

"I'm coming in." Harry spoke, soon opening the door and softly shutting it behind him. I felt the bed sink a little to my left side as he lay down beside me. I buried myself more into my blankets, not wanting to see Harrys face right now.

"Babe, what’s wrong?" Harry questioned, crawling under the blanket, and wrapping his arms around my fragile body. He nuzzled his head in the crook of my neck, pulling me close.

"Nothing." I breathed, closing my eyes.

"Katie, please tell me what’s wrong. I’m worried." he whispered worryingly.

Harry’s POV

I was getting really worried.

She never is normally like this.

"Can I take you out for dinner tonight?" I blurted out, hoping to lift her mood. She wriggled around so our faces were now inches apart and smiled.

"Sounds lovely." she replied, placing a soft kiss on my cheek.

I checked the time on the bed side table, before rolling out of bed.

"Come on, we'll leave in an hour. I just have to duck out quickly, I’ll be back soon." I smiled, placing a soft kiss on her forehead, before leaving her alone. I walked down the hall and out of her house, and back into mine. I grabbed my car keys which were hanging on a hook near the door, and headed for my new car. I buckled the seatbelt before taking off down the road.

I parked the car 15 minutes later outside a jewellery store, and quickly hoped out. I strolled up towards a large window, inspecting all the different pieces of jewellery on display. I opened the shop door and a familiar bell rung through my ears, signalling a customer was in the shop. The Jeweller greeted me nonchalantly, as if I wasn't there. I sauntered toward the balding man, my eyebrows furrowed. I squinted through the glass in search of something subtle but nice. Neither the Jeweller nor I made small talk. Until I saw it. A ring banded in diamonds, with a 14 karat diamond in the centre. It was simple yet elegant.

I look up, connecting my eyes with the Jewellers. I smirked. "I'll take this one."

The sounds of champagne glasses clinking filled our ears. The tiny blue box in my jacket pocket felt heavy. She looked nervous and I still wasn’t sure why, surely she shouldn’t be as nervous as I was. She tapped her fingers against the table like she was playing a piano, her shoulders hunched. Was she thinking about breaking up with me? Doesn’t she like me anymore? No no I was over thinking it too much.

I took a sip from my champagne glass, tasting the pink bubbles burst on my tongue.

"More champagne?" Our waiter asked, raising a pink bubble. He glanced expectantly towards Katie and I. I nodded, shifting my glass towards him. In the corner of my eye, I saw Katie shake her head.

"You haven't even touched yours..." I explained. "Is anything wrong?"

"I- um." she hummed. "What are you going to have for dinner?"

"Why are you avoiding my question?" I asked, clearly annoyed.

"I just don't want any!" she protested, huffing in anger.

I took the glass back from our waiter and thanked him for his assistance. Katie and I ordered our meals about ten minutes later. We didn't talk. I didn't think she wanted too.

***

"Shit," I cursed, my face turning red. I hit the steering wheel with the palm of my hand. "Why won't you fucking talk to me?" I raised my voice, although I didn't mean too.

"There's nothing to talk about." Katie shifted in her seat. "Seriously Harry, don't worry."

I slammed on the breaks, turning the steering wheel sharply to the left. I heard the gravel crunch underneath the tyres. I opened the car door, the engine still running. I shut it again, walking towards the front of the car. I sniffed, tears burning my eyes. She wasn't telling me the truth. I felt the engagement ring inside my pocket, and I reached for it. I heard the passenger door open and close and I turned my head to see Katie. She held her arms close, her teeth chattering. I blinked, and regretted it. Tears spilled over, running down my cheeks. She sat next to me.

"Why won't you tell me what's wrong?" I asked, opening the box, gazing at the tiny ring. "I bet you would tell Luke, wouldn't you?"

"Don't you dare bring him up."

"I'm sorry..."

We sat in silence for a few minutes. I guessed she hadn't seen the box yet. It was kind of pointless now.

"He would understand it better," she counteracted.

I shut the box in anger, throwing it against the ground, making dirt unsettle in front of her. She became silent. I stood up and marched away towards an unknown destination.

"Harry!" she yelled, I started running. "Harry, you ass! Stop running!"

I slowed down, hearing her footsteps creep behind me. I felt her arms wrap around my waist, her cheek hot against my back. I could feel her mouth move against my back, saying something I couldn't quite hear.

"What?" I mumbled feeling her tug at my arm, indicating me to turn around.

"You were going to ask me to marry you?" She sobbed. Everything inside me broke. I pulled her in, mumbling sorry multiple times in her hair. She kind of laughed. "You really want to know." I nodded, pulling back.

"Please."

She took a deep breath, steadying herself as she did. Her crying stopped, and she stepped away from me. I looked at her confused. I wanted to hold her in my arms. Her shoulders shook and she took another breath.

"Harry, I'm..." Katie looked up at me, her eyes meeting mine. "I'm pregnant."
