7. Marcy's Message - Ever's P.O.V.

I open the door, and the sight is truly sickening.

Marcy is on the bed with stitches running across her neck from one side to the other. She is pale as a ghost. In her hand is a remote that, I  guess, is used to control the Morphine flow

"Marcy," I say, hoping to get her attention.

Her fingers begin twitching in an odd fashion. A flat-ish fist. A peace sign. Another flat fist. Her index and middle fingers intertwining.

     She does it again.

     And again.

I am so focused on her that when Sharona comes in, I squeal in surprise.

"Sorry," she tells me. "Marcy has been calling for you. Not verbally, of course. She's been finger spelling. American Sign Language." Sharona points to Marcy's finger movements. "Can you read it?"

"Yeah, now that I know what it is. My friend taught me the ASL alphabet when was ten or so. E-V-E-R."

"Not bad, Miss King. I can hardly ever understand her when she does that." Sharona walks around the bed and fiddles with something connecting to Marcy's I.V.'s. "You may want to hurry up with Marcy. I had to give her some medicine. It makes her drowsy, which is why she's been making me put it off. Like I said, she's been calling for you. I'll ;eave you two alone."

     She leaves.

"Why would anyone do this?" I question Marcy. She begins finger spelling.

At first, I thought I misread it.

     "L-U-N-A. Luna! What about Luna?"

She spells quickly, and I almost don't catch it all.

     I-K-N-O-W-W-H-O-K-I-L-L-E-D-H-E-R.

"I thought Christian was behind it."

     H-E-W-A-S-N-T-T-H-E-O-N-L-Y-O-N-E. S-O-M-E-O-N-E-E-L-S-E.

     "Who?"

Marcy's eyes droop, and she doesn't look like she's totally here. She makes an S before her hand goes limp. Asleep.
