I slowly sit up in bed and look around in the darkness. I can't figure out what woke me but something certainly did. Careful not to disturb Alex I slide out of bed and creep down the hall. I listen in to Cassandra's room to find she's still sleeping. Sam, in the next room, is sleeping so soundly that I could probably shoot a canon past her and she'd still be sleeping. As I move silently down the hall I find I don't hear anything coming from Dylan's room. I push open the door to find the sheets messed up entirely and no Dylan. There are pillows on the floor and the only pillow on the bed has weird marks on it. As if he were strangling it. Confused I close the door and continue down the hall. I speed walk down the steps and turn into the kitchen. My eyes widen as I catch sight of Dylan sitting at the bar. He's hunched over the counter and his shoulders shake. He's crying. His hair is wet and I have a feeling it's not wet from a shower.
"Hey Dakota," he greets me although he doesn't even turn to me. I am immediately worried about him. I've only seen him like this once and I didn't like it then either.
"What happened?" I breathe as I feel my own tears find my eyes. I already know the answer but I couldn't help but ask. He swallows and refuses to turn to me.
"Nightmare," he states simply and I sit down beside him. He picks up a glass, which I didn't realize he had, and takes a swallow. I don't recognize the drink but I'm assuming it was left over from the party.
"Do you wanna talk about it?" I ask knowing how hard nightmares can be. He sighs and smiles. Yeah, smiles. He turns to me and his teal eyes burn with a mischievous glow.
"Have you ever heard my story?" He questions. It's so weird of him to just offer up information about himself that my heart beats faster in excitement. I shake my head no and he smiles more.
"Well, it's about time I told someone," he says almost to himself as he takes another swallow of his drink. I lean forward in anticipation as he clears his throat.
