Forever Young

"It was the first kiss and the first time I felt connected to anything."

8. Chapter 8

Eve's POV:

My feet sink into the sand and I'm up to my shins in water. When we got there, I was glad I was wearing my shorts and tank top. I threw my hair up in a messy bun and Ashton ripped off his shirt like it was a price-tag on a new pair of jeans.

"C'mon! Get in!"

It's really dark and the beach is empty. "We have the waves to ourselves." Ashton said. I don't know how to surf and I don't want to. Ashton rented a surfboard by the little shop on the boardwalk, he let me pick out the color. I picked Red.

"Eve! Just come a little deeper! The water is really warm." He stands in the water, a while away, as he clings to his board with one arm.

"No…" I say. "I don't want to get my clothes wet."

"I got my shorts wet," He says, walking towards me. He did, but he also pulled those dirty old shorts from the back of his trunk. My outfit is new.

"That's different."

"Because how?"

He's now only half a foot away, his height towering over me and his lips so close to mine. I bit mine to help with my temptation to pounce on him right then and there.

"Because," I choke. He leans in closer and I start to close my eyes, but as soon as I do, a pool of water is being splashed on me, drenching all of myself and my clothes. I open my eyes and mouth in shock.

"Well, now you have to get in," Ashton smirks, proud of his little joke.

"Oh, you're gonna get it." I wave my finger at him, he backs away and the water starts to get deeper, it's now up to my torso.

I splash him, he splashes me, I push him, he throws me.

"Put me down! Put me down!" I screech, he laughs and puts me down.

"Jerk!" I yell but laugh.

Our breathing slows down as we fade out of laughter, he tucks a loose strand of hair behind my ear. His thumb runs down my cheek bone. I'm holding my breath.

"Breathe silly." He rubs noses with me, I smile and exhale.

"WAHOO!! THERE'S NOBODY HERE!!" I hear a familiar voice holler from the other end of the beach, mine and Ashton's heads both turn towards the noise.

It's Michelle and her obnoxious friends.

I thought she was at a friends house?

"Oh no, no, no, fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck." I curse under my breath, Ashton just sits back amused, his hand still on my hip.

"We have to go." Ashton's face falls when he realizes I'm serious.

"Why? Because a few kids crashed the beach?"

"No, no. That's-" Oh crap. Do I want to tell him? I basically just dropped a big bomb on him not more than 4 days ago.

Yea but you lied to him before, now look where that got you.

My subconscious slurs, she's right. I'm so lucky to have another chance with him, I should just be honest.

"That's my sister." I say. "We have to go."

"The small one?" He asks, looking at me then back at her.

"Yes, now lets just-" "Hey!" Ashton waves down the group of idiot middle schoolers.

"No! Ash, what're you doing?!" I whisper forcefully. He looks back at me and holds up his finger. Out of frustration, I stop in the water and hit the water with my hands, splashing it onto my drenched tank top.

I watch Ashton go and talk to the girls. What the fuck did I just let him do? He's a hot, sexy, 19 year old guy walking over to a group of middle school girls. He's gonna get teared to pieces.

The girls make goo-goo eyes and laugh to much. Either that or I'm getting annoyed too easily. Ashton thanks the girls for something and then returns to the water.

"They're leaving." He smiles. Dimples. Dimples. Dimples.

"What? How'd you get them to leave?"

"I asked them nicely," He says.

"No seriously," I sit on my hip cross my arms.

"I'm serious." He says.

"No way, you went up to my sister and asked 'Can you please leave the beach?' and she just simply obliged." I say.

"Well… I may have flirted just a bit." He holds up his thumb and forefinger about an inch apart.

"That's what I thought," I say.

"Hey, it's not bad. Everyone flirts."

"Not me."

"You don't flirt?"

"No. I don't know how." I say.

Ashton smiles, and not that kind of smile where he's just being nice or polite, that real smile where he's thinking of something funny and his eyes light up in the cutest way.

"Well I'll teach ya," He says, grabbing my arm and pulling me a little bit shallower, so we aren't shoulder deep in salt water.

"What? No." The water level is now up to our waist.

"Yes." He stops in his tracks.

"Okay, I'm going to pretend to be a hot beach babe," Ash winks. "and you have to come and flirt with me. Okay?" He asks.

"I'll take that as a yes." He smiles. Ashton walks a few feet away and then looks back at me. He gives me a thumbs up, I return the thumbs up sarcastically.

"Okay, go." He says. Oh crap. I walk up to him and tap his shoulder, he turns around. "Well hello stranger." He says smiling.

"H-Hi." I stutter, why is this so nerve wrecking?

"I-I like your… I like your face." I cough. He bursts out laughing, nearly falling into the water as he rests his hands on his knees.

"Oh shut up!" I start walking towards the sand, I hear the water splashing behind me. "No! Wait, I'm sorry. It wasn't that bad!!" He's still laughing. His laugh is like magic.

"No, you know it sucked." I turn toward him, arms crossed, face unamused and embarrassed. "Aw, baby I'm sorry." He walks towards me and hugs me.

He called me baby. As in his baby. As in his. I'm his.

"I'm sorry, okay." He rests his forehead against mine, chuckling once in a while. His hair is now wet and it falls against my skin. The water is cold. I smile.

"Atta' girl." He kisses my lips softly. Too softly. I want him to kiss me like he usually does, but I don't tell him that. I just back away as we walk and grab our stuff.

Ashton parks the car a couple houses down from mine, now that he knows, he understands better. But the good thing is he doesn't seem to mind.

"Thanks," I say as we both sit in the parked car, waiting for the date to end, but now wanting it to. He smiles.

"No problem, you can keep that by the way." He says, tugging on the sleeve of my shirt. His shirt. He let me borrow it because I had nothing else, my shorts are still wet but not as much anymore.

"Oh, really?"

"Yea, 'looks better on you anyways." He says.

"Thanks," My cheeks heat.

Ashton looks at me and tucks a strand of hair behind my ear, he runs his fingers along my cheek. He kisses me. Not softly, but passionately. I return the kiss automatically, slithering my hand up to his cheek, his moves down to my waist. The kiss gets hotter as I climb up on my knees, he smiles against my lips and grabs my thigh, gesturing for me to straddle him. I do so, kissing him and running my hands through his hair, it's so soft. It tickles my fingers and warms my skin. I kiss along his jawline and he kisses my neck.

My back hits the car horn and I push myself off of it, forcing my hips against Ashton's accidentally and my chest closer to his. He laughs and I laugh nervously.

"Sorry," I apologize.

"It's fine, I just hope no one heard us."

"Me too." I smile.

I sit there for a moment, looking at Ashton's eyes, as I tuck Ashton's short hair behind his ear. I like when his hair is up, covered by the beanie. I can see his face better. Where did his beanie go anyways?

"I have to go." I tilt my head sideways.

"I don't want you to leave." He rubs his hands on my thighs.

"Me either. But If Michelle saw me at the beach, then me being home late won't really help my case." I try to smile.

Ashton lets out a long, dramatic sigh but eventually says okay.

I ask him not to walk me to the house even though he wanted to, I watch his BMW drive away as I reach my door. I unlock it and walk inside, shoving my bag on the floor as I lay on my bed, still wearing his t-shirt. It smells like him.

"Don't think I didn't fucking see you." Michelle bursts in my room. Fuck.
