Forever Young

"It was the first kiss and the first time I felt connected to anything."

39. Chapter 39

***Auther's note***

I wanna apologize in advance for the sloppy writing, sorry, It's not my best chapter but the next ones will make up for it (: xx

Ashton's POV:

The drive is fuzzy and big blue eyes fog my brain, but I manage to arrive at the studio on time.

I get a lot of

You okay?

How ya holding up?

But I don't bother to answer, they all know what happened. I told Cal and Cal told everyone else.

I don't know why the don't just spare me the pity.

We start to play and I release everything into the drums.

Calling her dad.

Finding her with Cal.

Once we finish the first few tracks, Mr. Jamison calls us out and sits us down, with that grin of his never leaving his face.

"I have some really, really exciting news." He says.

"Yesterday, I had a meeting with the manager's of Niall's band. And they want you guys…" He pauses dramatically.

"…To open up for them on their worldwide tour!!" He shouts, The boys jump up with glee and I can't help the grin on my face.

"Wait, for how long?" Luke asks.

"Ten months."

"When are we leaving?" Michael asks.

"In like a month."

"Only a month?" I screech.

"Well yea, guys. I mean, don't you wanna start getting this thing started? You boys have worked so hard and waited long enough. I though you'd be happy."

"We are! We are." Calum speaks for me, I can't help but frown at him.

"Well… I mean, we all kind of have lives here still. Family, friends…"

"Yea, I'm gonna have to agree with Ash on this…" Luke backs me up.

We all share glances, thinking about what we could do.

"Well I'm in!" Michael says.

"Yea, me too!" Calum agrees, me and Luke stare at each other.

"Guys, we're not doing this unless everyone is on board." Mr. Jamison looks at me and Luke. "We either go as a band, or stay as a band. So you guys have the weekend to figure it out, because if you decide to go, then we're gonna have to get started practicing with the boys right away." Mr. Jamison says, referring to Niall and the guys.

"I expect a decision by Monday." He walks out and shuts the door.

All of the guys and I take seats and brainstorm.

"Can we do like, only half the tour? Only the American tour?" I suggest. "Then we're not really far from home."

"I doubt it," Michael says. "Harry said their management is pretty strict."

"Who's their management?"

"Guys, I don't know what to do." Luke admits. "I can't leave. Not now at least. I have Grace." He says quietly and innocently.

"I don't know, let's just think it through the weekend, okay?" Michael starts. "We'll keep in touch…"

We all agree and then go our separate ways, well sort of. Calum and Luke ride home together.

When I get in the car I start to play some music as I breeze down 85

Ten months.

That's a long time to be away from home. Especially if we're leaving in a month…

I wonder what Eve would say if she were here.

"I think you should go, I mean, you've worked so hard and… You really deserve it, Ash."

That's what she'd say, and she wouldn't just say it. She'd say it while playing with my hair or caressing my cheek or something sweet like that.

And when I'd protest, she'd say;

"Don't worry about me, I'll be fine. We'll keep in touch, and plus, you have your career to think about…"

And she'd probably be right…

She always is.

I have to call her, if not for before, then definitely for now.

She has a right to know.

I'll call.

Eve's POV:

The mall isn't as crowded as I thought, it's only Wednesday so it shouldn't be crowded anyways.

Me and Grace first hit Forever 21.

Her favorite place in the whole wide world.

While Grace holds up an extra small, white, floral dress to herself, my phone starts buzzing.

I stare at it.

I stare at it again in disbelief.

"Who is it Eve?" Grace asks

"…I-It's Ashton."

My heart is beating so rapidly.

Should I answer?

Is he calling for a reason?

Did he just misdial?

"Should I pick up?" I ask shakily.

"No, uh uh, no Eve, you can't answer that. We're suppose to be forgetting, not forgiving. Remember?"

I guess she's right…

But I don't want to forget.

"C'mon," She snatches the phone from me and hangs it up, she puts it in her purse and waves her figure at me.

"You can have this back at the end of the day." She says.

"Now c'mon," She opens her arm out to me, I cling onto it. "Let's find you some clothes…"

We have so much stuff.

And more shoes…

And I'm surprised at how well this shopping spree has taken my mind off of… You know who.

Yet I still can't stop wondering why he was calling.

It must've been important.

What if he was calling to say that he didn't really do what he said he did and that he didn't really call my dad and that it was all just a stupid joke and he misses me and wants me back and misses my kisses and my hugs and my love…

But a girl can dream.
