5. Chapter 5

Jasper gets up and leaves and Ivy notices that he actually leaves a kind of shadow in his wake. She kind of feels drawn to it but she doesn’t understand why.

“You can try calling it to you.” Damon says from behind her.

“I don’t want to. I think it’s beautiful in a kind of dark way.” She says. She continues to stare at the shadows as they start to fade.

“The shadows are beautiful aren’t they? I can remember when my sister and I would sit and play with the shadows.” Kathryn says. She walks over and sits next to Ivy. “Did Jasper tell you everything you wanted to know?” She asks.

“Everything except for my last question. Do I have a sister? Because for as long as I can remember I have been an only child.” She says. Kathryn’s face takes on a pained expression.

“I’m glad that you were able to start over so easily. I wish I could’ve given up like you did. You seem so much happier.” Kathryn says. She looks at Ivy. Then, she changes into her somewhat demonic form she looks almost exactly like Ivy. “It all depends on what you believe is true Ivy. I may just look a lot like you. So much so that it’s kind of scary, or I might actually be your sister. You’ll figure out the answer sooner or later.” She turns to Damon. “Let’s go. Ivy wants to be alone.” Then, they disappear into thin air.

“Only based on what I believe? Why did she show me that? I don’t understand. What am I supposed to do?” Ivy says.
