A Long Lost Friend

A trip down memory lane leads me to an old best friend, and some new ones too. One Direction fanfiction.

11. What have I done?

"Louis! Louis, stop!" I yelled, grasping his shoulder. As soon as I touched him, he straightened up. There was a bruise blossoming on his cheekbone and his knuckles were bleeding. "Enough!"

"Let's go," he muttered, grasping my hand firmly and storming off. He took me back to the other side of the main road, where he stood tapping his foot impatiently.

"Hey!" I said as we got there. "What the hell was that?" I accused.

"I don't want to talk about it right now," he grumbled, looking up and down the road.

"Louis!" I yelled.

"Not now Kate!" He yelled back. I stopped. Louis hailed a cab and slid into it, asking the guy to take us back to their house. I sat in stony silence, as if he wasn't there. When we got out at their house, he tried to take my hand, but I wrenched it away. "Kate," he pleaded. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to yell at you."

"It sure sounded like you did." I said. "I was just trying to make sure that you were okay."

"I know," he said, looking down. "Please forgive me?" He pleaded with me.

"Louis, I can't do this. It's going too fast. I don't even know you properly." I stated, looking anywhere but at him. He gasped. "Look, I'm sorry, I really do like you, but I would rather get to know you better before we start a romantic relationship."

"Kate," he said sounding hurt. "I'm sorry! It was a mistake!" He pleaded with me. "Don't do this," he whispered.

"I'm not saying that this can't be something more ever, but for just now, I think we should concentrate on having a friendship, instead of a relationship." I explained. "I only met you yesterday. And just now when you freaked out, that made me realize how little I actually know about you."

"I can teach you!" He said desperately. "I'll be nice and sweet and everything! I promise!" He was grasping at straws.

"It's not about you. It's about us. I can't be with someone that I've known for a day Louis, and neither can you." I put my hands on either side of his face, looking up into his eyes. "Give it a month. Let me get settled in, get to know you better, learn a little about London, yeah? And if we still want to have a relationship, then I'm all for it." I said, feeling like an absolute bitch.

"Okay," he said quietly. All of a sudden, he bent his lips to mine and captured my lips in a sweet, short kiss. "But I won't give up." He said as we broke away.

"Neither will I," I said, removing my hands from his face. "I should go," I said, awkwardly. "I'll come over tomorrow, to see you guys, and maybe you guys can take me sightseeing?" I asked, hopefully.

"Uh, yeah." He said. He looked desperately upset.

"Louis," I began. I cut myself off with a sigh. "I'll... See you tomorrow then." He nodded and began walking towards the house. I fumbled for my car keys and unlocked my car, letting the tears start. What have I done?
