A Phantom of Time

Barbie was a regular 16 year old living in Los Angeles. All the boys want to be her's. One day when she was walking home she was confronted by an odd man. He claimed he saves the world from people who destroy it. Lightning comes out of nowhere and Barbie is blinded. She finds herself underneath LA. What'll she do?

2. Him

The bus pulled away slowly as if reluctant to leave. I saw Rachel in the middle with Oliver giving me the look of triumph every girl has when they knew they did something to get ahead of the school food chain. Rachel was already at the top but she wanted everyone to know it and remeber it. I was not that far behind. At some point during the walk to school I was thinking ending it all. Oliver was the one I liked since we were in sand boxes. Thats why my heart hurt so much to the point of death.

Fuming mad and desperatly upset I kept trudging to the second hell of the day: school. I normally liked school for the most part but today I hated it for one reason. Of course it is the one day I have every class with Oliver. That and I have three classes with Rachel that day too. I wanted to turn around and walk home but I couldn't. My mom and dad both work and before they leave they lock the front and back door. And both don't have cell phones so I would have to wait an hour for them to get to their offices and then wait another hour for them to drive back. In other words, I was screwed.

After a few minutes of debating my options in my head I decided to skip school. To tell the truth I felt so rebelious! I would just walk around the side streets or maybe play basketball in the alley. So I took a breath and made a b-line for my back porch. Once I made it there I dropped my stuff and started my own Independence Day!

Walking around town I listened to Miss Moving On and Wrecking Ball over and over but it just made me cry more afterwards. I continued walking listening to Phantom when I felt another weird notion to look behind me. Nothing. The headphones must be getting to me more than I thought.

I went to McDonalds to get a small fry and cry some more outside. Again I was walking around lunchtime when I had the notion to look behind me. That mental escapee was sitting behind about 20 feet away. That to be impossible because I would have passed behind him and seen him. He looked at me and smiled the most frightening smile I had ever seen, like he was the devil. I ran home.

Building some confidence I returned to walking except the street he was on.

I was walking in the alley my house and Oliver's house were on listening to Just Give Me A Reason when the sky turned from bright blue to a cold dark black. I turned to run to the safty of my porch when in a puff of smoke the man appeared on the porch. I didn't know where to run but I did. Again in a puff of smoke he appeared in front of me.

"I have long waited for this day my dear Barbie!" he proclaimed liked he knew me all his life. He had a suit from Victorian Times and a cape on. His face was covered by a large hat.

"W-who are you?" I said trying to sound brave.

"Why Barbie, I'm your guardian angel! Sent from heaven to protect and love you!" That's where I got the feeling of love on the bus.

"Love me? You're creeping me out!"

"For years I have loved you. You are smart, athletic, and beautiful. No one can beat you!"

Feeling like crying even more I managed to choke out, "I was just beaten today by my enemy you could say. She's dating my crush."

The man approached me and grabbed me and hugged me. Soothing me. I didn't know whether to scream and run or just stay there. I was tired so I just stayed in his arms. Eventually I figured I was hugging a stranger and ran. He yelled something and a bolt of lighting struck right in front of me. In a split second I knew he wasn't normal at all.

I fell but didn't get up. I was too scared to.
