6. Keep Up

Diana's POV

My eyes fluttered open and was immediately followed by a headache. All of what happened yesterday came flooding back through my mind. I slightly raised my head and was completely confused as to where I was.

Even though my surroundings were foreign to me, I had managed to stay calm. Any other person would have been frantic, but you may as well know that this is not my first time waking up in a strangers home. Back when I would hitch hike anywhere, I got so use to crashing in random peoples houses.

I was looking around when my eyes fell on a young boy around my age looking into the fireplace. Liam.

Knowing that I was in his house had calmed me greatly. The chances of him finding me were slim, and yet fate had somehow managed to stay on my side. And I was glad for that.

I started to put myself in an upright position and Liam had noticed my sudden stir in movement. He was quick to get up and was soon by my side sitting down on the table. From his facial expression can I only guess that he had seen my fall..and the things that caused it.

"Hey, there's no need for you to get up. I made some hot chocolate for you and I put aspirin on the table as well." He said and then looked down at the floor.

I couldn't help but smile at how cute and charming he was. Something I rarely find in people that I meet anymore.

"Well thank you Liam, really. But I have to go. I can't stay here." I started to get up but he gently put his warm hands on my arms and prevented me from doing so.

"Please, I don't mind you staying here. It's the least I could do after seeing you fall like that. And plus, it's kinda 3 in the morning."

I looked out the window and had noticed that it was still dark outside. I looked back over at Liam and looked right at his big and pleading brown eyes. A slow smirk starting to form on my face as I gave in to his request.

"Okay, I'll stay. But just for tonight. I have to be off anyways by the morning."

"Why do you have to leave so soon?" If I wasn't mistaken I could here the slight disappointment in his voice.

"I just have places to go. People to see." I said with a smile. I looked at the coffee mug that he had set out for me right next to him and reached over to grab it. The blanket slipped off of my arm and showed off my addiction.

I could see Liam looking at them intensely and quickly averted his gaze elsewhere. It didn't bother me that much. I was so used to it and I knew what I would get myself into when I had started.

"So,um can I clean those for you perhaps?" He coughed and looked uneasy as he asked me that question.

"Sure, I don't mind." He stood up and had his hand out for me to take which I happily obliged. He walked me back into his bathroom and had me sit on the counter. He reached underneath the sink and took out some peroxide, alcohol, and large bandages along with some cotton balls.

He tipped some of the medical chemicals onto the swab and looked up at me waiting for my consent. I nodded for him to continue and he ever so gently started to swipe the white compress onto my arm.

I sharply inhaled and hissed at the stinging and he immediately stopped.

"Sorry if I'm hurting you." He said sheepishly.

I just shook my head and smiled at how careful he was. "It's okay." He was a bit hesitant to start again but he soon realized that I would be in pain either way. He finished up and had the most concentrated look on his face when he was putting on the bandage.

All the while I was looking at him. Or admiring if you will. I soon stopped when he came back up to his full height.

"And you're all set." He got up and looked at me and gave me a shy smile. I jumped down from the counter and grabbed his hand and took him back to the living room.

We both slumped down on the couch and I let out a content sigh. I could tell Liam was going to ask me something serious considering he was fidgeting around in his seated position.

"Liam, if you're going to ask me something just ask. I don't mind." I loved being the cause of his shocked expressions. He could be read like an open book while I'm a locked diary.

"O-okay." He took a deep breath in before starting again. "What made you do that in the first place?" He said pointing to my arms. I looked down at them and back up at him

"Are you sure you want to know?"

"Look if you think it's because of curiosity you're wrong. I'm genuinely concerned."

"Mmm I don't know. I don't think you could keep up."

"With what?"

"With what happened."

"Well what did happen."

"Life. Life happened."
