2. Big big big day

I woke the next morning to silence. Absolute silence. It was like the world had stopped. Everything was still silent when I called for an Avox to put my wig on, hiding my long blonde waves. It's all the range to have coloured hair and crazy styles these days. It itches as much as lice but I have a reputation to withhold. Today the wig was a pale mint green that matched with one of my favourite lilac and mint kimono style dresses. I then had two more Avox's do my makeup which is obviously just as important, if not more important, than my wig.

Once my face was ridden with sparkles and shine I once again went to find Haymitch. I didn't see him again last night after his little huff but hopefully he'd had the sense to sober up as we have a big, big, big meeting in just under an hour!

I walk into into his room and, thank Panem, he was not only awake and sober he was wearing clothes!
"Good morning madam," he muttered in a Happy Haymitch voice.
"Good to see you too!" I chirped
He gazed at me with a strong, thoughtful expression and then went sad very suddenly.
"What's the matter?" I queried taking a couple steps towards him.
His expression quickly changed back to Happy Haymitch "nothing! I was just wondering why you....errr...always wear different clothes..."
That was obviously not what he was thinking but I wasn't going to push him as he was obviously trying to be cheery. He walked over to the window with a certain urgency and looked out only to be met with black. We were going through the tunnel to get to the Capitol.
"You ready?" I groaned.
"Sure, whatever, let's just do this."
He spoke with certainty that he wanted to do this, yet like now wasn't the time. I still didn't want to ruin his efforts so I pointed at his undone jacket buttons and went to leave the room swiftly. Just as I had reached the door Haymitch grabbed my wrist. I was so shocked I gasped. He hadn't touched me since he drew a knife across my face. I slowly calmed down though as warmth spread across my arm.
I turned and looked into his eyes, those wonderful blue eyes. He glanced down at his buttons and then looked back at me. I turned a very unattractive shade of pink as I gently did up his buttons. Why he wanted me to do this, I wasn't sure, but I certainly wasn't going to complain. We drew into the station while I popped the last button through the hole, his warm breath making the hairs on my neck stand.
