Daae Prodigy: The Beginning

Linda Daae[a.k.a. Belle] was a regular 14 year living in Dorburgh, PA. Or is she? Belle didn't have anything close to a close childhood living in her mansion full of wizards, benders, and the overall odd people. She must face her whole family to have a normal life. Will she succeed at her goal or fail driving her to the worst possible nightmare a teenage wizard could have?

6. The Book

I stayed up latest I ever had that night reading. It had so many things I couldn't imagine. It told the secrets of the world's history. How the ancient pyramids were really built was in there. How the Great Wall of China was built was in there too but I won't reveal how. Anyways I read about the first girl Daae and of course her name was Christine. Her story I would never imagine.

Christine Daae was born in 1862 to her Swedish parents to Gustav and Sofia Daae. Her mother one year after she was born leaving her father heartbroken. Christine always tried to put a smile on her father's face whenever she could. Gustav soon died when Christine was only seven while playing his violin [he was a great violinist]. Christine was sent to the Paris Opera House to learn ballet as her father's dying wish. Growing up she became the head ballerina. At age 18 she was said to be haunted by the Phantom of the Opera.

What Phantom? I never heard my aunt talking about a Phantom in her stories before. I kept reading on to see what else I could learn. Thankfully my lazy cousin still wasn't awaken by the flame in my gas lamp [it was the best I could find].

The Phantom of the Opera was a menace to the opera house for years. All he ever asked from the managers was some money and box five, nothing more. The Phantom never did anything bad until new managers took over and refused to pay the Phantom what he wanted. He went on large killing sprees by hanging whoever got in his way. No one knew where he lived so they couldn't capture him. The Phantom lived in the sewers of Paris because he was deformed. He loved Christine and her voice. He would go to Christine's dressing room every night and teach her how to sing. She eventually became a star.

All I was thinking while reading this was: wow! Christine must have had a really hard life but this Phantom dude was like an angel from heaven sent to calm her down. Man I wish that could happen to me except the part where the Phantom is deformed.

As Christine became even a bigger star she attracted an old family friend, Raoul Viscount de Chagny. He too heard her voice and fell in love. Obviously Christine decided to go with Raoul instead of the Phantom because he was very rich, handsome, and a true gentleman. The Phantom died in the sewers of Paris of a brokenheart. But before he died he made a deal with an enemy wizard of the Daaes. He vowed that every boy a Daae girl falls in love with be forced to live as he did. Every generation will relive his story until one Christine learns to love a Phantom. Then his soul will rest at peace.

What was I saying about how I wanted a guy like that? Nevermind I don't want to live that! I must have been making a comotion because my maid came in and asked if I had a bad dream. I thought, Thats it! I just had a bad dream! I dismissed my maid and went back to sleep with the book on the floor.

That morning I didn't even hit the snooze button. I ran down to the breakfeast table next to where my aunt sits. Surely in the next few minutes my aunt came down and was shocked I was up.

"I thought you would be in bed all day! I saw the light in your room until three-thirty."

"I was too excited to ask you qustions. There is a lot you haven't told me about this Daae Prodigy thing." I read a little more on how the compettion started. Aparently she met another wizard and begged to have her daughter become a wizard. The wizard did do it in return for all her money and singing lessons [how do you think Wicked became a musical?]. Now the daughter died very young but was able to give her powers to her little brother, Gustav Daae the Second. He went on to have many daughters and he is the reason there is the compettion. His daughters all fought for his love so he made the compettion with his powers to see who would win his love.

"Go ahead Belle"

This started another long conversation.
