Daae Prodigy: The Beginning

Linda Daae[a.k.a. Belle] was a regular 14 year living in Dorburgh, PA. Or is she? Belle didn't have anything close to a close childhood living in her mansion full of wizards, benders, and the overall odd people. She must face her whole family to have a normal life. Will she succeed at her goal or fail driving her to the worst possible nightmare a teenage wizard could have?

7. I'll Do It

My first question was why. At least in my head. Why did Gustav make this competition? Was he nevered loved as a child? Maybe I should look into it more.

Finally I asked out loud "Why?" Thats all I said.

My aunt took my hand looked at me with sad eyes. She knew what I was going through too. My aunt went through the exact same thing I am now. Her sad eyes penetrated my questioning ones and brought me to tears. I knew I shouldn't haved cried but I had too. It was like a force that crashed causing pain and sorrow only to my aunt and I. No one else.

"To tell the truth honey I don't know. I was the exact same way when I was little like you. I was angry but I didn't know who to blame. My mother, Grandpa Gustav, or... or I don't know. I was frustrated. What made it even worse was the marriage." Thats when my ears perked up even more.

She started to open her mouth when her daughter barged in. Yea! More drama to come.

"Mom! Belle was reading last night and it kept me up! Send the Treaders tonight!" she cried in the whiniest voice ever.

It's not like I was freaking about marriage but know I got to deal with marriage and Treaders. The Treaders haven't been after me in awhile even though I have been refusing to sing for the past few weeks. Maybe those two have finally come to their senses! Feeling a bit better after talking to myself I turned to look at my aunt when I heard a loud gasp from my cousin.

"Ohh! Whats that?" she screamed. She was looking at the Daae Book.

Panic struck me hard. I looked at my aunt who quickly came up with an answer.

"Just an old, boring book, honey. Nothing interesting go back to bed."

She just smiled and skipped down the hall. Skipped? Man, she was weird! I turned to my aunt when I saw her looking at a ring on her finger. It wasn't a engagment ring or wedding ring. It was a black diamond framed with a white border. Funny. I've never seen her wear that ring before. I asked her where she got it. It was actually quite pretty.

"It's from him" she said dryly.

Suddenly I was filled with memories of a deformed man. He looked so familiar but I couldn't put my finger on it. I was underground on a lake on some sort of boat. The man was very handsome except the one half of his face.

Next thing I know I was on the ground. My aunt was trying to pick me up when  she stopped and she fell next to me laughing. I got up asking her what happened.

"Sweetie, that's what happens when your the Daae Prodigy. I know it's stupid but we always faint at the strangest moments. In other words, you're growing up."

"Great more growing!" I choked out while laughing.

Then a thought hit me: I'm the Daae Prodigy. It never came to me like that. I have a big responsibility. I have to take care of my family and the entire world. I have to do whatever I have to do to keep it in order. Married at age fourteen will have to do.

"When's the Wedding?" I ask.

My aunt stopped and looked at me and said while smiling, "Whenever you want it."

"Okay. I'll do it."
