23. Still Vulnerable

Everything from the past,

All that ever happened,

Is thought by some

To have gone, to have disappeared.

But it's not true

What they think of me,

I'm still vulnerable

And I'm still insecure.

You think you can talk to me

Freely about anything

Especially shape and size

But you can never really understand.

Because whenever it is mentioned

My insides turn somersaults

And I feel slightly queasy,

Wishing you would stop.

I'm not over it

And I never got completely better,

I still want to return

To how it was.

I'm vulnerable inside

At this rate I always will be

Even when I believe it's gone

At the gate it begins a knocking.

I'm safe and mature

Secure in all things

But it isn't true for

I am insecure and so much more vulnerable

Than you could ever imagine.
