My BIG Journey

'Sorry Alicia! My camera won't work!' I said into my computer screen.
'Sorry love... but who's Alicia?'
I froze... my camera wasn't working and all the person could hear was me... speaking.
"Umm-uhh... I'm terrib-bly sorry, I m-must have the w-wrong Skype!' I stuttered.
This guy was completely hot... and I knew him from somewhere...
"What's your name?" his british accent asked me.
"Evie" I waited for a response
"What a lovely name! I just wish that I could see your face!"
This was just my lucky day that he didn't see me... VERY lucky. Being obese isn't easy...
"Anyways, I know you are probably beautiful!" The guy smiled.
'Pssssh... yeah right' I thought to myself. But it felt good to hear someone say such a thing.. I've never heard the word beautiful being spoken to me.
I laughed and smiled.
"I love your laugh, too!"
"My name is....'

17. Chaper 15- I'm Going To Make A Difference

As my father continued to drive slowly past the gym, my heart started pumping really really stinkin' fast.

My mother squealed. "Oh honey! You're going to be famous!" she gasped.

I faked a wide smile at her as she continued to look outside.

Those dang buffalos inside of my stomach were not helping at all.

"Remember Evie... just wing it..." I thought to myself.

Stepping out of the car, my parents wished me good luck and went on their way back home. I felt completely alone, until Sarah rushed up to me, hugging me tightly.

"Hey! You look wonderful!" she exclaimed. Hugging her back, I faked that same smile again and thanked her as politely as I could.

She then started dragging me to the front of the gym where everything was already set up with  two chairs in front of the door and at least five to six cameras surrounding them.

I didn't know what to feel anymore because my nervousness decided to numb my entire body.

I was then ordered to sit down on one of the chairs, and three women came up to me holding makeup brushes and hair tools. They were not making this easy....

They quickly yet delicately applied some last minute face makeup and curled the end of my hair just a bit more. While they were 'cleaning' me up, a very nicely dressed woman who looked about in her thirties came up to me and gave me a warm smile.

"Why hello there! My name is Elizabeth Blonshion and I will be interviewing you today," she spoke crisply.

She stuck out her hand, and I grabbed it, shaking it slowly. I smiled at her for real... she seemed like a VERY important person, like she was famous or something.

"Okay sweetie, I will be asking you only simple and basic questions that are fairly easy to answer. I know that you are probably very nervous, but all that you need to do is simply be yourself. The camera will love you! Just be truthful... okay?"

I breathed in and out slowly, and nodded my head approvingly.

The stylists quickly left the set when a large man yelled," We're on in 5!"

Elizabeth sat next to me, smiling at me again and touching my shoulder.

"Remember what I said, be as truthful as you can," she said quietly.

Slightly smiling back at her, I nodded once more before hearing a 'we're on in three, two, one...'

"Why good morning America! My name is Elizabeth Blonshion and welcome to today's newest special!"

I heard clapping come from somewhere, but I wasn't sure, I just kept my eyes on the camera that Elizabeth was looking into, smiling a small smile.

"I'm here with a special young lady who has a story to be told. Gym instructor's have announced that she has gone to the gym for 99 days in a row now while performing impossible physical stunts each of the days. Now please, can you tell us what your name is?"

I quickly but normally responded.

"Evie Sarabel," I spoke, smiling again. ( I think that I am smiling to much now-a-days...)

"Ah, what a pretty name!"

'Thank you very much!" I exclaimed confident'y.

'So far so good' I thought to myself.

"So tell us... we've heard about how you were at a size that made it seem... as though you couldn't exercise at the incredibly fast pace that you are going at right now. What gave you the motivation?"

Okay, first question... what should I say?

"Well... something happened a while ago that broke my heart. I used to be bullied, ever since I could remember. My mother died when I was only just a little girl... from cancer. I've always been a little big when she was alive." I felt my eyes start tingling, but I ignored it.

"My father got remarried to a woman who at first, I thought was my enemy. Now, she's like my actual mother..." I paused, thinking of my real mother.

The lady stared intently at me.

"I remember my best friend leaving me... and she hasn't called or answered my messages ever since." Ouch... it hurt to say that.

"I was still constantly bullied, and I am sad to say that I got used to the pain... it was like breathing... it happened every single day. And there was no reason for me to retaliate, it was like I had no purpose."

"What about the teachers... wasn't there anyone else to help you?" she questioned.

"To be truthfully honest, the teachers acted like nothing was happening to me, they didn't help me.... at all! And to this day, I am still pondering why they didn't stand up for me! I questioned why I was treated like some sort of monster!" I felt a tear run down my cheek, and I quickly wiped it with my hand.

"I met a person online, and he made me have confidence, he made me feel like I was something... but he never saw what I looked like because my video camera never worked. And when I did fix it.. I didn't want him to see me because I'm just too... ugly." I spoke, disgusted.

"Everything was going wonderfully for about a month and I had some actual friends to talk to... but my mother insisted that I show him the real me... on the outside I mean."

She nodded, signaling me to continue.

"When I did, he had his friends with him, I guess, and they called me big in the back ground... and he didn't recognize me.. he treated me like I was a monster as well... Which led me to this big change."

I could not believe that I was letting this out so easily... like dang.

I saw a guy behind the camera holding a sign that said 'hold up your old picture'

I closed my eyes and held up the tiny picture in front of the camera, completely embarrassed.

Hearing that gasping sound coming from an imaginary crowd kinda freaked me out a bit, making me even more embarrassed.

I moved the picture back to my chest and sighed.

"My motivation was inspired by reality..."
