3. Chapter Two

Daisy is nine years old. Sorry. I changed it three times because I thought twelve year olds would be more mature than she was acting. Sorry!

I dragged me feet into the kitchen early this morning since I have school today.

I sat at the kitchen table and gratefully took the breakfast Shelly made me before I even woke up.

"Well good morning," Shelly said.

"G-morninning," I mumbled back with a mouthful of food.

"Hungry? Yeah?"

"I never eat at home," I said after swallowing my food.

Daisy sat beside me, eating silently with a big frown on her face.

"Not a morning person? Yeah," I asked.

She didn't answer back.

"Okay," I mumbled.

"Uh, Niall," Shelly's voice sounded as I looked in the direction she was talking to.

He was shirtless and only had joggers on which made me blush furiously. I turned my head the other direction before he could notice.

"Niall. Put a shirt on," Shelly said, swatting him back in his room.

"No one would mind! Come on," he argued back but it was useless.

He came back in the kitchen with a shirt on and sat in front of me to eat.

I quickly took my last bite of food and put my plate in the sink so I didn't need to face him.

I dragged my feet to my room to change. I looked at my bare stomach in the mirror. A scar was formed below my belly button. It went all the way across my stomach. I quickly changed and packed a bag for school to set in front of the door. I put my shoes on my feet and walked to the kitchen, waiting for the others to get ready.

I nodded at Niall as him and his sister raced to the car and I stayed behind.

"have fun," Shelly said pulling me into a hug. "And good luck."

"Thank you."

I walked out the door and watched as Niall and Daisy fought over the passenger seat.

"I want to sit here!"

"Too bad! She's sitting here!"

"Why? Do you looove her?"

"Oh shut up!"

Niall shoved her in the back seat and opened the passenger seat door for me to sit down. I approached the door and sat down as he shut it behind me and ran to the drivers seat.

Niall's eyes stayed on the road and I studied his face. I guess he noticed me staring because he asked if there was something wrong with his face.

"Hey Cassie. Niall needs to tell you somethi-"

"N-n-no I don't!"

Niall replied quickly and stuck his head in the back seat and mouthed for her to shut up.

I just blushed and looked at my knees until we arrived at a school with younger looking kids.

"Get out," Niall scolded, as Daisy opened the door and ran out to her group of friends and we drove away.

We soon arrived at the high school and Niall took me to the office to get my schedule.

"We have ELA and gym together," Niall said excitedly. "That's third and last hour."

"Well. Can you at least show me to my first class?"

"Course. And my class is right across the hall if you need me."

He lead me to my class and wished me good luck before stepping inside.

Everyone was staring at me. Great.

I took a seat beside a girl in the back of the room who motioned for me to sit next to her.

She looked similar to me. She had dark black hair and looked lot more cheerful than me.

"Hey! You're new right? Wanna talk? I can help you on what you missed!"

"Oh.. um, ya. You can help.. But first, do you know why everyone has been staring at me?"

'Because you walked in with Niall Horan.. The most popular guy in school. Every girl likes him."

"Oh. Well nothings going on between us."

"Okay. Well everyone else doesn't think that."

I stared at her blankly.

"Let's be friends. I'm Brianna by the way. I can help you around the rest on the day."

"That's cool. Ya. Friends. And I'm Cassie," I said smiling back at her.

Turns out me and Brianna have every hour together except for gym. But when third hour came, when me and Brianna walked in, everyone was staring like usual.

We sat at the back of the room. Niall was in a corner with a girl. I could faintly hear him. I could see him mouth the words, 'we're over. Forget about us,' and he walked away as the girl's jaw was hanging from her mouth.

I turned back to my school work in front of me.

"Hey. Look who's walking over here," Brianna whispered.

I looked up to see Niall looking strait at me.

"Hey, how's your day so far?"

"I don't know yet. I guess it's been good so far."

Brianna who was sitting beside me was just smiling up at Niall. It was obvious she liked him.

The girl who Niall was talking to earlier was giving me death stares and flipping her hair at me in disgust.

Niall sat down in the seat in front of me and class started.

"And our new student, Cassie Pakers."

Hearing my name from the teacher brought me back to life.

I hesitated, not knowing what's going on.

"Can you come stand in the front of the room," my teacher asked.

I stood up and awkwardly walked in front of everybody.

I started heating up from nervousness and the teacher turned to face me.

"So tell the class about yourself."

"I um.. I.. my favorite color is purple.. I love to read, draw, and write.. And.. and uh yeah."

"Okay class. Any questions for Miss. Cassie," my teacher responded.

Lots of hands raised up in the air waiting to be called. I called on a boy in the front row.

"Me?" I nodded. "Oh. Are you dating Niall?"

"Appropriate questions," the teacher called.

Lots of hands dropped down after that question.

Oh wow. Oh shit.

Niall's head faced the wall acting like he didn't hear the question and the girl Niall was talking to earlier looked like her face was steaming up in anger.

"No," I replied hesitantly.

A few more questions were asked and I was called to the teachers desk.

"Here," she said handing me a book. "Read the first six chapters and then you will be caught up."

I thanked her and walked back to my desk. The book looked plain and simple. About 90 pages of boring words.

Soon lunch came. I sat next to Brianna at an empty table. The cafeteria was loud but I read the boring book my ELA teacher gave me.

I felt someone sit beside me and peek over my shoulder reading with me.

"Niall. Why aren't you sitting with your friends?"

"I can't leave you alone. And I'd much rather be here with you."

"So.. What's up with that girl you were talking to last hour? In the beginning of class," I asked not taking my eyes away from my book.

"Well first of all get your head out of that book, silly!"

I flattened the book out on the table so I wouldn't lose my page before he continued talking.

"That was my ex-girlfriend, Fiona."

Before I could respond Fiona bumped into the table and splashed food all over Niall, Brianna, and I.

"I'm so sorry," she said in such an innocent voice.

I wiped the cheese off my face and picked it out of my hair.

Fiona was talking to Niall and rested her hands on his knees and popped out her chest.

Niall wasn't satisfied and shoved her away to turn back towards me.

"Come on," she whined. "I got distracted because I heard my name and because you are so sexy today. I swear it was an accident."

She neared closer towards Niall but he kept shoving her backwards.

"You need to leave me and Cassie alone! Come on! Cassie come with me," Niall demanded, pulling me into the hallway.

He paced back and fourth, punching the lockers to get his anger out. He kept swearing and mumbling things under his breath, kicking the lockers every now and then.

Niall was scary when he was mad. I didn't like this side of him. I was actually scared of him.

After he calmed down I decided to talk to him.

"Niall," I whispered.

I could barley talk to him. My voice was small and weak.

He neared closer to me. He tried looking in my eyes, but I denied to look at his face. His breathing was heavy and he was tapping his feet constantly. He couldn't stay still.

"Why did you bring me out here," I barely whispered.

It stayed quiet for a while until he decided to answer me.

"You calm me down. I was mad at her. She wont leave you alone. I guess I just needed you beside me."

I smiled at his and finally looked up in his bright blue eyes. They seemed calmer now.

He set both hands on either side of my body and leaned closer.

The bell rang loudly, making us jump and blush awkwardly at each other.

"See you in last hour," Niall said, and waved goodbye before walking away.

"Where were you?"

I heard Brianna's voice but I couldn't find her until she pulled me to her side.

"Let's go to our next class Cassie."

I followed her to class and sat there. Waiting for the end of the day to arrive.

I walked into the girls locker room to change.

Fiona was talking to her friends that always followed her around.

I just ignored her and got changed. I turned around so no one could see the big scar that lay on my stomach. I tried to ignore it too and placed my bag in my locker and headed out to the field.

I went to coach for help.

"What do we do?"

"Well do you see that over there," he said pointing to a soccer field. "You can either play soccer, jump rope, or rock climb," he said pointing his fingers at each station.

"Okay. Thanks."

"Hey Cassie," Niall said running over to me.

"Wanna play soccer with me?"

"Uh.. I don't know how to play."

"I'll teach you."

We walked to the field and he came behind me to set his hands on my hips. I didn't mind, I was comfortable with it. He put my feet over the top of his so he would have full control moving them.

"It's simple. When the ball comes just kick with your right leg.. If you are right handed."

"I am."

He lifted his right leg so mine would move also.

"See? Let's try."

He set the ball in front of our feet and kicked it with our right leg.

"This is harder for me sense I'm left handed," he mentioned.

We kept practicing until we wanted to take a break. We sat on the bleachers and waited for gym to end.

"Hey, Cassie," Fiona sang, nearing towards us.

"Leave us alone. Go away," Niall said glaring at her to go away.

"Why Ni?"

"Because," he said waving his hand up and down by his nose. "You stink."

I tried not to laugh at the way he said that but I couldn't help it.

Coach blew the whistle and we had to head to the locker rooms.

"What ever," Fiona walked away in disgust and left us to be.

I walked in the girls locker room to get dressed and go home but my bag was gone from the small locker.

"Missing this?"

Fiona held up my bag in her hands and walked towards the running shower and dropped it in the pouring water.

"Well come and get it."

I ran over to the shower, turned the knob off, and took the bag off the wet tile floor. It was dripping with water. My phone and clothes were in my bag. I checked  to see if my phone was fine and it was, thankfully.

"Don't tell Niall about this. We all know about the crowbar incident, if you tell him then your secret will be out. Don't even go by him again."

"I live with him!"

"Right," she replied harshly. "You little slut. Have fun!"

She snickered out of the locker rooms to leave me with wet clothes and a damaged phone.

I walked out of the locker room doors and hung my head so no on would see me.

"Oh, there you are! I cant leave without you! I was looking for you! Why are you still in gym clothes?"

Niall stood in front of me, tilting his head slightly, waiting for an answer.

"I.. Umm.. Dropped my bag in the shower."

"That's okay.  We will be home soon anyways. You can change then."

He dragged me out of the building and stuffed me in the car.

Right when Niall got in the car he placed his hands on the wheel, closed his eyes, and shook his head.

"Why didn't you just tell me?"

"What? What do you mean?"

"I know Fiona did that to you."

"How can you be so sure?"

"I heard her on her way out. Why couldn't you tell me? Do you not trust me?"

"No. I do trust you! But she said if I tell you my secret will be out! But I don't even get it! It was my first day! And I just met you! Geez!"

"I don't think it matters. Fiona needs to learn that its not right to do any of that."

"It doesn't matter. Please drive."

"Okay, okay. I wont tell anyone. Only I will know."

We drove to our house in silence. Daisy had piano lessens at her school so we didn't need to pick her up.

When he parked the car, I ran to my room to change. I traced over my scar and held my stomach.

I finished changing and dragged my bag to the living room. I was going to sit on the couch to do homework but it seemed like Niall already beat me there.

I slumped down in the love seat, across the room from Niall but he followed me and sat beside me.

"Hi," I whispered.

I didn't know it would happen, but he leaned in.. And kissed me..
