1. Chapter 1.

I groan and roll over in my bed onto my side, looking at the clock. 6:21am and I still haven't been to sleep yet. I groan again and drag myself out of the bed, down the stairs and into the kitchen. I rub my head as I enter the kitchen, all the lights off. I sigh a sigh of relief before flicking on the small light above the stove, giving myself a moment to slip from the darkness and adjust to the light. I blink a few times, finally adjusting, before making myself a glass of Yorkshire Tea.

I'm not sure why I haven't slept yet. Maybe it's that I'm still not used to this move or that I have to go to a new school tomorrow, where I know absolutely no one? Probably both. I stare at my hands, holding each other against the granite countertop.

My parents died in a horrible accident, leaving me to live with the only real immediate family member that I had left. My older brother, Liam. I hadn't seen him since he had moved to London, after placing 3rd on the X-Factor with his new mates. Shortly after, their band, One Direction, was well-known. Fortunately, the paparazzi still doesn't know that I'm his sister, but I'm sure they'll make some crazy story about me being his new "mystery girl". I laugh at the thought.

I stare out the window at the dawn, taking a sip of my tea. It's so beautiful, it looks nothing like home. I have a clear view of dawn. The purple, pink, orange, and lavender whisks of clouds, all of the colors mixing together. The slightly-heighted line of thin trees just below. I sigh as I remember home. I had left everything. All my friends and what little family that I had left.

I suddenly hear noises from Liam's room upstairs: shuffling, and a couple of crashes. Wow, Liam must be really sleepy. I think to myself. I sigh, hoping he didn't hurt himself, and take another sip of my tea.

Liam's POV

As I slowly become half asleep, I hear shuffling move from down the hall to downstairs. I stir slightly, sitting up. The shuffling continues downstairs. I hope my sister has slept.

I groan, groggily dragging myself out of bed, moving my hands along the wall to find the light switch, stumbling over things on the way. I find the light switch on the wall, switching it on and gasping at the view in front of me. Chairs were knocked over onto the floor and a lamp was smashed. Did I do that all trying to find the light?

Holy shit.

I suddenly feel a sharp pain in my right foot. I groan and fall to the floor, pulling my foot towards me to see what was making the pain. I gasp as I see a large piece of glass etched deeply into the side.
