High School Romance.

Ariel, an image of a red-headed mermaid poped into your head, didn't it? Well, that's kind of me. A fiery red head and look alike to Molly Quinn. I just started high school (oh joy.) and I'm so not used to it. What happened to small schools? Oh well, but, I can't really complain. And all of my classes are fairly easy, and every single one of them I share with the most random guy, football jersey number 13. That's what I call him, thirteen. And I think I like him... like, LIKE LIKE him... and I'm pretty sure he feels the same way about me...

10. Chapter Two, Part Five.

I woke up and groaned. So not a morning person, I thought. I sat up and slid my eye mask off. I squinted and held my hand up to the bright sunlight rays that protruded into my room. I looked over to my phone that played the One Republic 'Apologize' ringtone I set for it.

I got up and grabbed a change of clothes from my closet, then played M83's 'Midnight City' as I took a shower. I got out, changed, fixed my hair, then grabbed my backpackand binder. I stole a glance a my clock a sighed.

I slung my backpack higher on to my shoulder and slipped my phone into my back pocket. I went down stairs and poured myself a bowl of cereal. I took my bowl and sat down on the couch in the family room, I flipped on the TV and played recordings of Castle.

[ a half hour later ]

I turned off the TV, put my bowl in the sink, and then grabbed my back pack and binder as I ran out to the bus stop. I stood at the curb waiting.

I huffed to myself and grabbed my headphones from my backpack pouch. I popped them into my ears and then listened to Snow Patrols' 'Chacing Cars', I softly started to sing it outloud to myself.

I looked to my right, then jumped off the curb into the street as a girl on a penny board came rolling down the side walk. I stepped back up to the curb and watched her jump off and then run back over to me worried.

"I'm so sorry, I'm horrible at braking on this thing, are you okay?" She said in a frantic ramble.

"Yeah, are you?" I said.

She nodded. I studied her, she looked just like Taylor Swift, like she could be her sister. Her twin sister. She had her blonde hair up in a bun with a fake daisy chain wrapped around it. She had her earbuds in both ears and was chewing nrevously at her nails. Her penny board rested at her feet.

"Are you sure you're okay?" She asked again.

I laughed. "Yeah, I'm fine."

She tilted her head to the side and the corners of her lips twitched up to a grin. "My name's Stephanie," she held out a hand, "and you are?"

I shook her hand and said, "Ariel."

"Like the Disney Mermaid?"

We both turned and saw the bus slowly creep our way. She kicked the bottom of her board and it jumped up into her hands. We climbed into the bus, the driver glaring at the board in Stephanie's hands.

I smiled and slid into aisle thirteen, Stephanie got into aisle eleven. She turned around in her seat and we talked for a while. I found out she transfered here from Cape Town in South Africa. Her mom worked in a magazine photo shoot thingy, and her dad was in the movie production. She had a few older siblings, a twenty-year-old brother and nineteen-year-old sister.

She also explained how she wasn't at school yesterday because she was celebrating her Bat Mitzvah. Oh, that makes sense, I thought, I was wondering about the bracelet thingy on her wrist.

Stephanie pulled a bag of gummy bears out of her back pack and started playing with her phone, I saw One Direction's 'Best Song Ever' cover art on her phone screen. I glanced at her beracelets and decided she was a Directioner and a Niall's Girl.

I smiled and listened to Imagine Dragon's 'It's Time'.

"Hey Babe,"

I looked up and smiled as Ryan slid in the seat next to me. He kissed my cheek and said 'hi' to Stephanie.

"Yo yo." She replied. She threw a red gummy bear up into the air and caught it in her mouth. We started talking about random stuff, something about animals' rights, when the bus stopped again.

We all looked up as a guy resembeling Niall Horan walked on the bus, a Coke-A-Cola glass bottle and a bag of Reece's Pieces bites in his hand. He locked eyes with Stephanie and then smiled.

I looked over to Stephanie and her jaw had dropped. She quickly wiped it away and threw another gummy bear in the air, again catching it in her mouth.

The guy came over and slid into the seat next to Stephanie and smiled. "You've got some skills, love, I'm Nathan." He said with a slight Irish accent.

Stephanie chewed thoughtfully on her gummy bear, obviously trying to appear mysterious or something.

"Stephanie." She finally said. A slow smile spread across her lips, lighting up her face along with it.

Nathan nodded. Stephanie introduced us to each other and Nathan explained he moved here from Ireland. We all started talking and then the bus stopped at the school. Stephanie, Nathan, Ryan, and I all had the same classes together.
