High School Romance.

Ariel, an image of a red-headed mermaid poped into your head, didn't it? Well, that's kind of me. A fiery red head and look alike to Molly Quinn. I just started high school (oh joy.) and I'm so not used to it. What happened to small schools? Oh well, but, I can't really complain. And all of my classes are fairly easy, and every single one of them I share with the most random guy, football jersey number 13. That's what I call him, thirteen. And I think I like him... like, LIKE LIKE him... and I'm pretty sure he feels the same way about me...

13. Chapter Three, Part Two.

( A/N: just as a pre-note, there will be foul language in here, it's not really that bad, but I just wanted to give you all a heads up. Please don't stop reading! )

I squeesed Ryan's hand as we went outside. I looked at my watch, we had a little over an hour for our lunch break, and we just wasted fourty-five minutes of it in the drama room.

"I knew you'd get the lead role," Ryan said, "good job, babe."

I giggled, I was about to say thanks when I heard someone shout,

"Hey! Red!"

I turned around and saw the queen bee girl from earlier, she looked livid.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?! This is my thing, do you really think you can waltz in here and steal it?" She shouted at me. She pushed me, I lost my grip on Ryan's hand. She walked up to my and crossed her arms over he chest so she was face-to-face with me. "I do not expect to loose lead role to you."This part was said in a viper like hiss. She glared down at me (for the fact she was wearing high heels I think it helps why she had the upper hand in terrifying me), and if looks could kill, I'd be dead right then and there.

I stood dumbstruck, what could I say? What could I do? What was I supposed to say now?! I knew the role she got, she was one of Ariel's sisters, she only had a few lines and one or two songs.

My breath quickened and I started to panic. She squinted her eyes and her lips twitched up into a smirk, I knew she was enjoying watching me freak out like this. That's what bullies get off on right? The other person's pain? Watching them squirm?

I felt my hand be grabbed and the next thing I knew I was being dragged off from the scene. I couldn't rip my eyes from the girl as I followed, she kept watching me with that intense hatred... it bothered me, it made me want to run and hide. I looked around where we were standing, some people had already gathered and were waiting for a fight.

I was pulled behind a corner and Ryan wrapped me into a hug. I hugged him back, gratefull to be in his embrace where I felt safe and secure.

"Don't let her get to you." He whispered to me.

"I won't." I said, a single tear rolled down my cheek and I closed my eyes.

A silence consumed us, we stood there holding each other.

The bell rang and we started to walk back to class hand in hand. After a few moments of silence, Ryan started talking.

"So your last name is Nichols?"

"Yep." I said. I popped the 'p' as I said it (or however you phrase that). I was happy he changed the subject, I was more than happy to talk about anything other than what happened.

He paused for a little while. "I don't like it."

I giggled and saw his lips twitch up into a smirk.

"What?!" I asked, still laughing.

"I want to change it." He said. He never looked at me, his eyes trained on the route we were walking on.

"What do you want to change it to?"

He looked at me and smiled. "Honestly... right now I don't know. But I'll figure it out, just wait."

I shook my head and smiled even bigger. We walked into our World Cultures class and sat down with Stephanie and Nathan.
