High School Romance.

Ariel, an image of a red-headed mermaid poped into your head, didn't it? Well, that's kind of me. A fiery red head and look alike to Molly Quinn. I just started high school (oh joy.) and I'm so not used to it. What happened to small schools? Oh well, but, I can't really complain. And all of my classes are fairly easy, and every single one of them I share with the most random guy, football jersey number 13. That's what I call him, thirteen. And I think I like him... like, LIKE LIKE him... and I'm pretty sure he feels the same way about me...

12. Chapter Three, Part One.

I walked into the drama room, there was a group of girls over in the corner gossiping. I guessed the queen bee was the blonde twirling her hair aound her finger sitting on the table.

I tool in a nervous breath and sat down at a table in the back, Ryan sat down next to me and held my hand in his under the table.

I went through the part I had to memorize, it was part of a script from Criminal Minds.

"Alright, Ariel? Ariel Nichols?" The drama teacher called. I bit my lip, I couldn't remember his name. Great.

I let go of Ryan's hand and walked up to the stage, I turned to face everone and my mind went blank. What was I doing here again? What was I supposed to say?

I scanned the crowd, praying the answer was in there. I caught Ryan's eyes and he smiled at me, even gave me a little thumbs-up.

Everything came back to me in a wave, I could remember everything.

I smiled. "Mr. Flynn...?"

[ after try-outs ]

"Was I even decent?" I whispered as another girl got up on stage. She recited a few secind long line from Romeo and Juliet.

"You were amazing, babe." Ryan whispered back to me.

"Yeah." He looked over to me and smiled.

"Okay, after all of your pieces, I think I know what we're doing, and who's getting what roll." The teacher started. He said we were for sure going to preform something that required singing, so he asked for us all to go back up and sing.

I was first, again, and got up. I went back to the stage and scanned my mind for a good song.

"Sing a love song!"

I looked up and saw Ryan smirking at me. I blushed and nodded, I started singing Hunter Hayes' 'Wanted'.

[ after the countless other songs ]

I fidgited in my seat. I thought I was way better than most of the girls, but that was weird to think of it that way. The girl singing now was the one who was sitting on the table, she belted the words to Lady Gaga's 'Applause' and was making these weird dance move things.

She smiled and walked off stage as her little possy cheered.

The teacher rubbed his eyes. Then went up to the front of the stage and said,

"I think we will preform a musical of The Little Mermaid."

The group of girls up front squealed happily and Ryan squeesed my hand. The teacher smiled and nodded.

"Yes, so, lead role will go to..." he pointed out into the crowd and pointed at each girl, until his eyes (and finger) landed on me and he smiled.

"Lead role goes to Ariel Nichols."
