High School Romance.

Ariel, an image of a red-headed mermaid poped into your head, didn't it? Well, that's kind of me. A fiery red head and look alike to Molly Quinn. I just started high school (oh joy.) and I'm so not used to it. What happened to small schools? Oh well, but, I can't really complain. And all of my classes are fairly easy, and every single one of them I share with the most random guy, football jersey number 13. That's what I call him, thirteen. And I think I like him... like, LIKE LIKE him... and I'm pretty sure he feels the same way about me...

31. Chapter Six, Part One.

(Ariel and Stephanie: http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=99339781 ) (Ryan and Nathan: http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=99340316 )

I curled my hair and listened to Owl City's 'Vanilla Twilight'. Pandora knew all of the random old songs I secretly loved...

A knock at my door made me look over my shoulder and tug the strand of hair I was trying to curl out of the piece of metal.

"Come in!" I said. I looked back to the vanity mirror and tried again to curl the one piece of hair that was being so difficult. Grrr.

"You look SOOO PRETTY!" Stephanie appeared at my side and put her chin on my shoulder smiling at our reflections in the mirror.

"Thanks, you do too!" I said. I put the curling iron back on the table and switched it off, then stood up and hugged my best friend. She looked drop dead gorgeous.

"The guys are running late, they said they'd meet us at the school." Stephanie said. She rolled her eyes and let out a 'humph.'

I sighed, my parents were looking forward to the before homecomming pictures that were so cliche and over done, but always held special memories that I loved to look back.

"Yeah, but the school is doing the picture thing, like at the real proms? So we can take legit pictures there." Stephanie said.

"You just read my mind!" I said laughing.

She laughed too, then grabbed my wrist and pulled me out the door. My parents took a few pictures of us posing stupidly, then we went on our path to the school. I saw groups of kids I knew walking to school too, a few mumbeling about how far away the school was, others talking to the people they were going with.

I looked ahead as Stephanie played music on her phone, I saw Brianna talking (very angrily) to a guy wearing normal every-day clothes.

"This is a dance you loser! Who am I going to go with now?!" She screamed at him. I think everyone on the streets were stopping whatever they were doing to listen to the argument. Stephanie turned down her music and smiled at the scene erruoting in front of us.

She urged me on and we walked awkwardky past, I put my head down and held my breath, hopefully, Brianna wouldn't notice me and I could avoid a confrontation.

[ five minutes later ]

Stephanie and I stood outside the school listening to music off Stephanie's phone. Ryan and Nathan were running late (that's an understatement) and we were still waiting for them.

"When are they going to get here?!" Stephanie muttered crossly.

I shrugged. A pair of hands covered my eyes, I tensed up and held my breath again.

"Guess who?" A familiar voice whispered into my ear.

I pried the hands off of my eyes and turned around, Ryan stood smiling at me with the mocking smirk I grew to love.

"You guys finally made it!" I said happily.

"We were getting you two something." Nathan said. I looked over to him and saw him hugging Stephanie with his chin on her shoulders.

"Ooh! What'd you get me?" Stephanie begged.

Nathan gave Ryan a look that read 'can I?'

Ryan responded with, 'sure, go ahead.'

Nathan smiled and pulled out a little plastic box, inside was a cluster of little white daisys' on a light blue stretchy ribbon. Mint leaves surrounded the delicate flowers and there was a fog just around the top edges of the box.

Stephanie's hands were at her mouth in an awe-struck amazement, she looked back up to Nathan and thanked him by crshing her lips onto his.

I looked down at my feet, I don't know why, but whenever I saw them do anything like that I instantly felt awkward and uncomfortable.

"I got you one too,"

I looked up to Ryan and he pulled out a simmilar flower, only mine was a white rose with the tips painted red.

I smiled, "thank you."

He nodded. I took a step closer and kissed his cheek. He smiled and popped open the box then slid the bracelet (I have no idea what it's really called,) and kissed me.

"Let's go you two love birds,"

I looked up and Stephanie was smiling at me, Nathan had his arm slung around her waist.

"We're going to miss the dance if we don't get in there."
