High School Romance.

Ariel, an image of a red-headed mermaid poped into your head, didn't it? Well, that's kind of me. A fiery red head and look alike to Molly Quinn. I just started high school (oh joy.) and I'm so not used to it. What happened to small schools? Oh well, but, I can't really complain. And all of my classes are fairly easy, and every single one of them I share with the most random guy, football jersey number 13. That's what I call him, thirteen. And I think I like him... like, LIKE LIKE him... and I'm pretty sure he feels the same way about me...

45. Chapter Nine, Part One.

I heard the front door close and my parent's hello echo through the house. My stomach turned in knots as I shakily got up and went downstairs.

How were my parents going to react to what Jackson did? I knew for sure they weren't going to be thrilled by it... but then again... I don't even know for sure if he went all the way through with what he was going to do.

I walked downstairs, my parents were at the kitchen; my dad was getting a glass of water and my mom was reading my note from last night.

"Hi," I said. I half smiled while I felt like I was going to throw up. This is crazy, I was ratting out my older brother!

"Oh hi sweetie," my mom said throwing away the note, "do you know where your brother is?"

"No," I said. I wrapped my arms around myself and breathed slowly. How do I explain all of what happened? "But, I need to talk to you, about Jackson."

Both of my parents looked at me worridly. My dad gestured to the kitchen counted and I took a seat at one of the stools.

"What is it?" My mom asked.

"Well, you see..." I took a deep breath and shivered. I looked back up at them and just started talking. "I caught him with his new girlfriend. Brianna. She's my age and you would never apporve of her; half clothed, too much makeup, always has a group of girls following her, and she's mean. She's cussed me and pushed me. But um, the other night, I came back from Stephanie's to get a change of clothes and I caught them in his room... and they were about to... go too far. I packed my stuff and left so I don't know if they crossed that line... but when I came back Brianna was still here."

My mom covered her mouth with her hand and my dad hung his head.

"Is there anything else?" My dad asked. He rubbed the back of his neck and looked up at me.

"Um, he gave her a stuffed bear that Ryan gave me, he says he's not going to get it back." I said. My mom sat down and burried her face in her hands. My dad rubbed her back and told me to go up to my room.

[ ten minutes later ]

I heard the front door close and I held my breath. I heard my parents call Jackson earlier and now it seemed he was home.

I opened my bedroom door and strained to hear the muffled voices downstairs.

"Jackson, we know what you did." I think that was my dad...

"What did I do?" Jackson...

"You had... relations with a fourteen-year-old girl." Definatley my dad...

"And gave her something dear to your sister." My mom...

"Yes, that too." Dad again...

"Did Ariel tell you that?" Jackson...

"We're not naming any names." Mom...

"But she told you, right?" Jackson...

"Jackson, we will not tell you." Dad...

"Then how do you know the bear is gone?" Jackson...

"We never said it was a bear."

Silence. I strained hoping to hear at least something...

"Whatever, I don't need this." Jackson said angrily.

Footsteps on the stairs.

I closed my door and put my back to it.

"You're going to get your sister her bear back!" My dad shouted. "And you're never aloud to see the girl again!"
