High School Romance.

Ariel, an image of a red-headed mermaid poped into your head, didn't it? Well, that's kind of me. A fiery red head and look alike to Molly Quinn. I just started high school (oh joy.) and I'm so not used to it. What happened to small schools? Oh well, but, I can't really complain. And all of my classes are fairly easy, and every single one of them I share with the most random guy, football jersey number 13. That's what I call him, thirteen. And I think I like him... like, LIKE LIKE him... and I'm pretty sure he feels the same way about me...

48. Chapter Nine, Part Four.

"Ariel, I'm being serious, please answer me! Or text me back, at least! You missed a drama rehersal, and there's a glee meeting tomorrow after school. Please, I'm begging you, call me back. I love you... Ariel... just... *sigh* I love you. Know that."

I sunk down deeper onto the couch and let my hand fall back to my side. I felt bad about not talking to Ryan, for him to leave that message...

Ugh. Why did Brianna say that to me?! Why did she bully me?! Get this little high off other's peoples pain?! That's not normal, it's weird and unnerving and just plain cruel!

I called Ryan and bit my lip and the phone rung...

"Ariel, babe?" Ryan's worried voice asked.

"Y-yeah?" I said. I sat back up straighter and poked the mug of hot chocolate I had been drinking earlier.

"Oh my... you had me freaked out! I thought something happened to you! Don't ever do that to me again!" Ryan said in a frantic ramble.

"I'm sorry," I said, "I... it's a girl thing... I felt sick and decided to stay home. My phone died and I couldn't find a charger." I crossed my fingers hoping Ryan would believe my lie.

A long silence stretched out on his end of the line.

"I'm coming over with some stuff then," Ryan said happily, "be there in a few."

"No, Ryan, wait!"

He hung up and I was left with two huge bruises on my face. If he saw them...

I ran upstairs and rummaged around my makeup box for my foundation and applied thick layers to the now purple tones skin marks on my chin and cheek. I looked at myself... I looked... semi-normal.

The doorbell rang and I tossed my makeup back into the box then ran downstairs and opened the door to be wrapped in a hug by Ryan.

I giggled. "So, how was school?"

"Normal, so why didn't you go again?" He asked. He was hiding a bag behind his back and smiled.

"Um... girl problems... what's that?"

"Oh, nothing."

"Dude... really?"

He hung his head and smiled. "I got you some stuff." He handed me the bag and inside were movies, single serve ice cream, and a teddy bear.

"Awh, thank you!" I said. I wrapped my arms around Ryan and kissed his cheek.

We sat on the couch and watched movies while we snacked on the ice cream. I never told Ryan about Brianna, hopefully it would all just blow over. Thinking back to all of the times I was bullied, it was always 'ignore them and they'll move on'.

That would work now, wouldn't it?

A/N: aloha! I apolojise for the short chapters, but I'm just going through some stuff and I'm not online a lot. I'm trying really hard to update at least daily, if not, ever other day,
