High School Romance.

Ariel, an image of a red-headed mermaid poped into your head, didn't it? Well, that's kind of me. A fiery red head and look alike to Molly Quinn. I just started high school (oh joy.) and I'm so not used to it. What happened to small schools? Oh well, but, I can't really complain. And all of my classes are fairly easy, and every single one of them I share with the most random guy, football jersey number 13. That's what I call him, thirteen. And I think I like him... like, LIKE LIKE him... and I'm pretty sure he feels the same way about me...

24. Chapter Five, Part One.

"PLACES PEOPLE! PLACES!" Mr. Bost called.

I finally learned his name, the drama teacher, thank God.

I sat back down on the fake rock and re-read the script in my hand, Ursula was supposed to come in next.

Who played Ursula?

"Um, Mr. Bost," I said, "sorry to inturupt, but uh, who playes Ursula?"

"Who playes Ursula? Well... I NEVER CAST SOMEONE TO PLAY URSULA!!!" He went into a panic, trying to figure out what part could be changed and who could play the important part.

"I can do it."

I turned and saw Brianna smiling mischeviously at me.

"You will?" Mr. Bost asked, hope rising in his voice.

"Of course," Brianna said. She walked closer to me and took a I'm-all-that pose. "The show must go on, musn't it? Will anyone really notic one of the sisters missing? Does anyone even know all their names?"

"Thank you, Brianna, for voulenteering." Mr. Bost said with a relieved smile.

My breath caught in my throat, Brianna was going to play Ursula?

That couldn't be a good sign.

Brianna eyed me with an annoyed I'm-going-to-destroy-you expression.

I took a deep nervous breath and took a glance into the almost empty seats boardering the stage. People who were in the muscial but weren't supposed to be on stage yet were either on their phones, talking, working on homework, learning lines, or actually watching the mas chaos taking place on the stage.

And in the back of the seats, as far away as possible, were Stephanie, Nathan, and Ryan.

Stephanie and Nathan were working on their Algebra, I could tell because Stephanie would continually pull out her phone, type out a few things, then scribble something down frantically.

Ryan smiled and half waved. I grinned and mouthed "hi."

"Alright people," Mr. Bost said, "get into your places!"

I laid back down on the fake rock/table and picked at the flower in front of me.

"He loves me, he loves me not, he loves me- I knew it!"

The play went along normally, Ariel sold her voice to Ursula, then fell in love with Eric, and then Eric fell back in love with Ariel and a big happy ending.

The roll of Eric was played by a sophmore with shaggy brown hair and piercing blue eyes. I think his name was James or something like that.

At the end of the rehersal, I quickly grabbed my bag and rushed to meet the trio waiting for me at the door. We started to walk home talking about nothing important.

"Don't you have tennis today?" Ryan asked me.

"No," I said, "on days when I have drama it's a free tennis day."

"Thank God." Stephanie muttered. "I'm going to quit tennis."

"WHAT?! WHY?" I asked.

She shrugged. "I don't really like it any more. I want to try out for maybe volley ball or something."

"Oh, okay, I guess." I said softly.

We said our goodbyes upon arriving at Stephanie's door. I looked around, had Nathan already dissapeared into his own home? I saw a few blocks over the blurry figure of him and who appeared to be Brianna arguing. He looked annoyed and she was just clinging on to him.

I brushed it off, she was probably just trying to get him to tell me to give up on drama or something. Nothing to worry about.

I linked hands with Ryan and we continued to walk to my house, my parents had come home yesterday. My brother won his game! I was happy, but at the same time, didn't really care. It was just another trophy for his 'Victory Shelf'.

"Don't you have football practice?" I asked Ryan.

"Nope, they're doing something to the field so we get a few days off." He said.

I nodded.

[ later that day ]

I shoved my book into my bag and laid down on my bed.

Finally I was finished with my never-ending homework. I got back up and went to my computer opening the web page for my high school and looked for anything Glee Club related.

Attention Returning or Future Glee Club Members! Try-outs will be held September 27th! Have at least three songs ready to preform (must be from different singers, diferent themes, and must be approporiate!)

Three diferent songs. Three diferent singers. Three diferent themes.

I could handle that.
