High School Romance.

Ariel, an image of a red-headed mermaid poped into your head, didn't it? Well, that's kind of me. A fiery red head and look alike to Molly Quinn. I just started high school (oh joy.) and I'm so not used to it. What happened to small schools? Oh well, but, I can't really complain. And all of my classes are fairly easy, and every single one of them I share with the most random guy, football jersey number 13. That's what I call him, thirteen. And I think I like him... like, LIKE LIKE him... and I'm pretty sure he feels the same way about me...

57. Chapter Eleven, Part Four.

I took a deep breath and walked up the front steps to Stephanie's. Tonight, we decided on having a sleep-over and she said that tonight would be the one night that it would be just us girls.

No Nathan, and no Ryan.

I knocked on the door and it swung open to Nathan's lit up face.

"H-hey!" I said. "What are you doing here?"

"Oh, I was just leaving. Steph wanted me to let you in." He said. He gave me a quick hug and then left.

I took another deep breath and walked up to Stephanie's room. I found her laying on her bed surrounded by magazines and empty Arizona Tea cans.

"So," she said. She sat up and tossed the magazine she was reading to the side. "What was so important the guys couldn't be here?"

I took a deep breath (I seemed to be doing that a lot) and sat down next to her. I hugged her and felt a few tears start to brim on my eyes.

"Ariel, what's wrong?" She asked.

"Ryan cheated on me." I said slowly. It hurt to say it out loud. Jackson said he'd tell my parents tonight and spare me the pain of having to.

"WHAT?!" Stephanie bellowed. She pushed me away so we were at arms length apart.

I nodded and wiped my eyes. It was only this morning... I caught him... a picture of Brianna popped into my mind and I started to sob even harder.

"That's it." Stephanie snapped. She picked up her phone and pushed a few buttons. "I'm calling him."

"No! No, this isn't your fight! Let me deal with this!" I said.

Stephanie studied me and then sighed. "Fine. Okay."

I thanked her over and over again then laid back on her bed. The late afternoon sun crept in through the window and I felt a warmth spread over me.

Maybe I'd be okay without Ryan.
