High School Romance.

Ariel, an image of a red-headed mermaid poped into your head, didn't it? Well, that's kind of me. A fiery red head and look alike to Molly Quinn. I just started high school (oh joy.) and I'm so not used to it. What happened to small schools? Oh well, but, I can't really complain. And all of my classes are fairly easy, and every single one of them I share with the most random guy, football jersey number 13. That's what I call him, thirteen. And I think I like him... like, LIKE LIKE him... and I'm pretty sure he feels the same way about me...

43. Chapter Eight, Part Four.

I ran into Stephanie's house without knocking. She was sitting in a triangle with Nathan and Ryan.

"Ariel," Ryan said. He stood up and I wrapped my arms around him.

"Jeez, Ariel, you look like shit." Nathan said. He got up and went into the kitchen.

"Awh, my poor mermaid." Stephanie said. She got up and hugged me too. She helped me calm down and gave me a bix of tissues. We sat down on the couch, Ryan was on the floor facing us, and Nathan came in with a handful of licorice and a bottle of water.

"Take these." He said, giving them to me.

"Thanks." I hiccuped.

"So, what happened?" Stephanie asked.

I looked into her eyes. "I caught Jackson..."

"What?" Nathan asked.

"Shh! Let her take her time." Ryan scolded.

I took a deep breath and explained to them how Jackson said he would be going out with the thing known as Brianna. I would pause, catch my breath, cry, sob, or punch a pillow in frustration. How could my brother be so naive? How could he even think of going that far with not only a girl two years younger than him, but a girl he'd only been 'dating' for maybe a half hour? Probably less?

"I went into his room and he was about to..." My voice drifted off and my eyes cloded with tears again.

"About to...?" Stephanie pressed.

I burried my face in my hands and started to bawl. "He was about to have sex with her!"

The room grew quiet, except for my crying, and my three friends looked at each other for an idea on what to do next.

Stephanie got up and pulled Nathan with her, saying they needed to go set up the designated movie room.

Ryan took Stephanie's spot. He wrapped his arm around my shoulder and I cried onto his. I felt him kiss the top of my head and whisper 'shh, it's okay, please stop crying'.

I wiped my eyes with the palm of my hand and slowly started to stop the continous tears from falling.

"It's okay, Ariel, Jackson probably saw how much he hurt you and told her to leave."

"I highly doubt it," I said softly, "he never does stuff like that."

"Have you ever told him off like that before?"

"Yeah, the other day, he kept saying how much he wanted us to break up, and I told him to give me a reason..."

"Did he?"

"Yeah, he said I was growing up too fast."

Silence.

"Ryan," I said, "thanks for being here for me."

"No problem, babe, anything for you." He said with a chuckle. He kissed me swiftly on the lips just before Stephanie and Nathan came in.

We went into the movie room, Stephanie had picked out a few from a vast collection of Disney movies.

I think I fell asleep somewhere between Lady And The Tramp, and Toy Story 3.
