Finding My Killer

"SCARLETT MIRANDA ROSE." The tombstone read. "FELL OUT OF WINDOW. AGE 16. SHE WILL BE IN OUR HEARTS FOREVER."

I venomously laugh as I read my tombstone. My name is Scarlett Miranda Rose, and I know
one thing for sure.

I didn't fall out of that window.

I was pushed.

20. Chapter 20

Drew got out of surgery 4 and a half hours later and was then moved into a new room for him to stay in while he recovered.

I sat with his mom who would not leave his bedside. I watched her pray countless times, I watched her cry her eyes out, I watched her ask why it had been her son, Andrew. I wanted to comfort her, but there wasn't really much that I could do.

"My sweet boy," She smoothed his hair away from his forehead. "My sweet, sweet Andrew," She wiped a tear from her cheek and sniffled. "I just wish your father was here," She whispered. "He should be here for his son at times like these." Her voice broke. "We almost lost you," Silent tears fell from her eyes and she covered her face with her hands.

"But we didn't lose you," I smiled sadly and tried to hold his hand, but when my hand passed through his, I let it hover above it. It's the thought that counts.

"Scarlett. . ." I heard the faintest whisper that escaped Drew's lips.

I looked up at him and saw his dark eyes curiously staring back into mine.

I grin in relief. "Oh my God, Drew!" I laughed a short laugh and covered my mouth. "You're awake! Dammit, Drew, I was so scared!" If I could cry, I would probably drown in my own tears.

He smiled at me. "I'm still here, Scar. I'm not going anywhere." Tears glistened in his eyes.

"Thank you," I said quietly. "Thank you so much,"

"Drew!" His mom burst into his room and rushed back to his side. A nurse followed behind her and quickly adjusted the IV drip that was sticking out of his arm.

I shifted into the background and sat down in the chair next to the window.

After that excitement died down, the two police officers that helped Drew walked into the room. "How are you feeling, Bud?" The dark skinned officer asked him.

Drew smirked. "How is one supposed to feel after getting stabbed by a psycho?" He joked.

"Such a smartass." I rolled my eyes but grinned like a fool.

The officers chuckled. "Well, it's good to see you have a sense of humor. I'm Officer Lewandowski, and this is my partner, Officer Jones," He explained. "We're here to get a statement from you about everything that happened."

And Drew told them everything. How he 'knew' me from before I was killed, and how he was determined to find out who did this to me. How we(I) suspected it was Tanya, but later found out that it was Mayella. How she confessed right before she stabbed him in the shoulder.

Every now and then Drew would glance in my direction and see if I needed to add anything. His mom caught on to what he was doing, and glanced towards the chair where I was sitting and a confused look spread across her face when she couldn't see anything there.

The officers thanked Drew and left with the nurse when he was done giving his side of the story.

"So," His mom asked him, glancing over to my chair. "What's her name?"

I knew Drew's mom knew what he could do, but she couldn't see the same things he was seeing. She was normal.

"Scarlett Miranda Rose," He smiled.

She turned to look at me and smiled a friendly smile. "Hi Scarlett," She said.

I grinned. "Hi,"

"She says hello," Drew told his mom, and he laughed with relief. Relief to still be alive? Relief to see me still here? Relief to see that his mom never once thought he was crazy? I wouldn't know. But the look he had in his eyes made me feel so much better.

It made me feel like this would all be over soon.
